Sum Or All…Going All In on Bravado at SEC Media Days

Lord, it was blowhard day in Tampa, Florida.

First, from Pete Golding and how he kept Chambliss in Oxford:

Sure, Pete. It had nothing to do with lawyers, either, did it?

Meanwhile, new Handbags Coach John Sumrall was about to go all WWF on the media when a phone went off during his tirade.

No, he won’t back down from proper electronics usage. Maybe focus on avoiding this, instead:

Don’t lose to the ACC. Make that an imperative and maybe the rest of the conference can take you seriously.

Wishing him the worst of luck in the year ahead.

Slap Me in the Face, Georgia Wins a Tournament Game!

Smoke if you got ’em. The Diamond Dawgs got it done in Hoover against the MSU Dogs.

Here’s the good news: we get Florida on Saturday.

The bad news? Florida’s on a heater and they remain our only SEC series loss this season.

Saturday at 1 pm. Let’s get it done, Diamond Dawgs.

Meanwhile, the team was presented with the SEC trophy:

Nice move, Kolby. More hardware for the program and let’s hope we get some more window decorations before the season’s over.

Saturday Sign of the Apocalypse: Jorts

Repent.

It’s not a lie.

Not just an October fashion statement anymore.

What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been

This is something to behold.

Remove the Big XII schools from this, and it’s not a shock that we had the best record in the SEC in the 1980s. It feels like we should’ve been lower in the 90s, but the upward trajectory starting the 2010s is refreshing, finish with 100 wins for the decade and, of course, now owning the best records in the 20’s.

What’s equally refreshing to see is where Florida and Auburn are in the 2020s, exactly where they deserve to be.

FTMFs.

Today, in FTMFs

I have to say, I like this:

In all the recent fracas about the future voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, here’s a fun Thursday Throwback to a joyous time of beating the Gators when we didn’t expect to, complete with Larry Munson.

Enjoy.

There is no Joy in Gainesville

Holy crap this is a telling insight.

On one hand, it says that Indiana had players that might’ve aged out of the NFL. On the other, and funnier hand, is that Florida and Sun Belt Billy really sucked that bad.

I’ll chuckle at either one, but it’s not a stat to be proud of at Florida.

Proof that the 1990s Weren’t As Great as We Remember

Man, that’s a lot of blue from 1990-2010.

Just think, we went 3-17 against the Gators in that span of time, and we still lead the all-time series comfortably.

Another note:

Since the 2010 season, we’ve gone 11-4 against the Gators and are 8-2 in the Smart era.

Let’s hope we keep the streak alive this season against Sumrall and Faulkner.

Around the Campus for Sunday, April 12th

Good news: Dawgs beat Gators to even the series. After a disasterous single inning to open the series on Friday night, Georgia came back and beat the Hogtown ballers 5-1 on Saturday.

Now for the mystery of who the Day 3 starter will be to try to take the series. Should be intriguing…first pitch is at noon today on the usual outlets.

On to women’s tennis, who is still laying waste all those who dare to compete with them:

Women’s Softball dropped a 4-3 game to Missouri.

Georgia Men’s Tennis is having their Senior Day today and is facing everyone’s favorite, Auburn, to boot, at Magill. You’ve got one world of orange suck next door in the baseball stadium, so just come to the general area wearing red and you’re doing your part.

Go Dawgs!

Georgia Downs the Gators, 75-0

Wow. Just wow.

For context, the 1942 team won the SEC and the National Championship, thanks to a couple of guys named Frank and Charlie. Added to it, the Georgia team had draft deferments thanks to the UGA ROTC program, whereas many Gators left to serve in WWII. The remaining Gators were inexperienced, as the score would reflect.

Still, a win is a win. I’ll take it.

Stupid Is as Stupid Does in Gainesville, Florida

Philo has a thunk:

First off, Philo’s girlfriend doesn’t have a proper dad. Any decent Georgia loving dad would convince his daughter to ditch the sinner and get with a winner.

Secondly, you’re butthurt over not getting recruited by Georgia when they selected Puglisi, who has stuck with the University thus far, while you’re defecting to another lousy school.

What makes it worse is that Buster Faulkner is your OC, who could’ve recruited you to Georgia, but didn’t.

Make it make sense, Philo.

Don’t back down now, either.
