Every Penny’s Worth

Upset about the loss this last weekend? Hold please..

And to think…a lot of that 30.6 million was sitting on the injured reserve this last weekend.

If we’re spending more than the Gators, one would stand to reason we beat them, right?

  1. That graphic may be the end of Steve Sarkisian in Austin. They gave him the equivalent of the Dodgers’ payroll. If he doesn’t go deep into the playoff, we may see our first coach firing of a team in the playoff.

If the Hamburgers don’t make the field of 12, he may be gone before the regular season ends.

I’m not sure I agree with the numbers, but the perception is directionally correct.

    • Yeah, I wonder where/how they got those numbers.

Oh, and I think Texas loses again this week to Ole Sis. I hope not because I want Ole Sis beaten down by the time we go there.

    • After the last two weeks anything less than a deep playoff run I think Sark is fired. Not making the playoffs he’s toast before the playoffs start.

Once Sark is fired no matter what they’ve say Kirby and family will get a ridiculous offer to move. I don’t believe Kirby would want to coach anywhere else much less tell momma we are moving. I do believe they will quietly make him say no. That’s just how Texas rolls.

The numbers shown like mileage varies somewhat. In general my guess is the dollars spent ranking order is close as everywhere I see this list the team order doesn’t change much.

      • Texas offer…Kirby $100mil for 5 years, a $50mil NIL budget, Andrew gets to go to UGA under HC Mike Bobo who Texas pays his $8mil/yr salary, Muschamp picks which school he wants to be DC, Schumann gets the other. Don’t laugh…that is essentially the deal Saban was offered. It was Miss Terry who visited and said no.

  2. Shorthorns spend enough money to be nothing but ribeyes or filet mignon. Can’t afford to bench! the Lurch! Turns out they are nothing but ground beef made out of a bunch of gulley jumpers! Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of privileged wanna be cowboys! Go Dawgs!!

  3. I’d like to revisit this at the end of the regular season. I suspect as the SEC continues to beat itself up the playoff rankings will make some teams look a lot worse.

Some teams like LSU might look around and wonder is getting an easy schedule more important than just the players. As 15 presidents ponder if we lick them out our schedule gets easier.

The SEC clearly has the best collection of teams. None of that will matter come playoff selection time. No matter what they’ve said the final record will be what they use. 10-2 teams with weak schedules will jump 9-3 SEC teams. When it’s all over SEC teams weaken by injuries via a brutal schedule will probably under perform again. Justifying the committee’s choices rinse and repeat. To the b10 this is The prime feature of the current system.

Oh I forgot Congress is going to save us. There’s going to be a salary cap with a super strict pinky swear promise not to break it.

  4. Is the Lane train about to turn the corner with that expensive roster and make a run? Or will they implode?
I am hoping for the implosion to be spectacular!

  5. “Coach, I can hire that top recruit’s Momma as an advisor to my company for $2mil/yr if you need me to. Will never show up in your NIL reporting.”

You know this has, does and will continue to happen and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

  6. It’s times like these that make me glad I’m old. The 9 game SEC schedule will kill the SEC. Our game with Bama was a killer and it caused both teams to lose. The SEC 9 game deal is like a death march for the teams. ESPN is the devil and the SEC is it’s handmaid.
