Serious question:
When I went to games (read: when I could afford it) I usually stood. I never gave a second thought about the people behind me, but this gives me pause.
Did I ever sit at a game?
There was the 1995 Georgia Florida game at Athens.
We never sat. Mind you, there was no one behind us because most people left, but I can recall us standing the entire time out of some bizzaro allegiance and my buddy running laps the one time (we had seventeen points, so it was more than once) we scored around the empty student section. It seemed appropriate.
But if you go to games, do you stand?

Discuss.
During bigger games I stand on defensive series, especially on third down, but often times I do feel like I’m blocking people behind me so I stand up and sit down a good bit. I also clap loudly until my hands are nearly bleeding. I try to yell just to the point of losing my voice but usually end up pretty hoarse the next day despite my best attempts not to. I look around and realize that a lot of people are not making noise and it annoys me that they don’t contribute but then again I sometimes wonder how much it actually affects the other team because it’s gets exhausting doing that repeatedly and then they continue to march down the field. Either way, it’s working enough and makes me feel like I’m part of the game so I will continue as long as I can.
I do for defensive 3rd downs, but I’m also on the first row of my section with a wall in front of me so I don’t have to worry about anyone in front of me standing up. I can sit forward to the wall and yell on 3rrs downs also. It depends on the opponent as well how enthusiastic I am.
When I was younger and sat in the lower bowl I stood all the time and often got asked to sit down which annoyed me. I was probably pretty obnoxious yelling for others around me to stand as well. I meant well though and was just supporting my team…lol.
It is rude and selfish to be the only one standing. I don’t do it. I have been known to rise to my feet and crouch so I don’t block the people behind me. There are times when the entire section stands and I will do that. The people behind me spent too much for tickets and parking for me to block their view.
Well stated sir.
Wish you were sitting in front of me.
I stand except for commercial breaks.
The yelling of “down in front” and “up in back” is a time honored CFB tradition. I have been part of both.

I attended a night game in Sanford against UT in 93 or 94 I think. Some guy with a cowboy hat kept standing up in front. Most in the stands were already drunk. Some guy near us kept yelling “Hey Cat in the Hat, sit the F down.” Cowboy hat in turn was shooting birds back at our area. Thought there was gonna be brawl. Mind you, this was in the 1st quarter.
I am loud on all defensive downs. I only stand when the people in front of me stand and I can’t see rhe field. When I was younger I stood more but have always been aware of the people behind me. I stood most of the last game because the crowd was loud and on their feet.
At home games I’m in the middle of a section so it’s easy for me. I stand when those in front of me stand and block my view. I still make lots of noise on defense.
In Jacksonville there’s always someone standing in front of me no matter where my seats are. This applies only when Georgia is doing well.
It is rude to be the only ones standing blocking others.
I stand most of the game especially when we’re on defense because the people in front stand most of the game. I also sit at the end of a row, so it’s easier for me to do that. On offense, I prefer to sit but would never tell someone “down in front.”
I don’t care whether you sit or stand. I care whether you make noise when we’re on defense. If you’re just standing and not making noise, you ain’t helping in the moment. If you’re sitting and making noise, good on you. Given the slant of the rules, it’s the only advantage that the defense can get consistently other than the ability to move freely pre-snap.
I stand in the people in front of me stand.
We also stand when the people in front of us stand/block our site lines; we are also on the aisle right next to the students at home, so there is a little more energy and people standing than in other areas of the stadium I think….
Last time I checked there’s no medal of honor for standing all game. I stand if those in front of me are so I can see. My area of the stadium usually stands/sits when the game demands it. I’m usually on the top row of the 300s so I can stand not blocking anyone and I (amazingly) behave well enough that I can lean back and see the screen tin the sky box behind me to get replays a little faster. I got to high five AJ Green once. I don’t think I would ever stand in a manner that would singularly block the view of those behind me. It really soured me on a segment of our fans when some Georgia fans tattled on a friend and got him removed from the Gator Bowl at the cocktail party in the late 90’s for standing. Didn’t even ask him to sit first, just straight to snitching. Garbage humans
I have always preferred standing over sitting for four hours on a backless aluminum bench with ridges which tear into your backside, particularly on very hot days. However, you have to respect the folks around you, particularly if they are small kids or older folks.
I stand when everyone else is sitting to take selfies and post live to social media being the big time and important influencer I am though some call it self-absorbed unawareness and inconsiderate.
I never really have a problem in Sanford but there are too many one-timers at the WLOCP who insist on standing the whole time.
I stand when I need to stretch, or when I need to cheer loudly. Or when the people in front of me stand and I cannot see.
I try to be mindful of the people behind me, especially if they are older.
Now concerts, that’s a different story. I’ll stand & dance the whole time. It’s a fucking rock show. It is inappropriate to enjoy a rock show from the seated position.
Had great season tickets, front row 321. Stood for the big moments but sat mostly to be considerate and since my view was always unblocked.
Staying seated also minimized the stupid inconsiderate sons of bitches behind me from thinking the seats I paid dearly for were a convenient place to rest their nasty ass size 14’s. I sat down on top of many a feet over the years and had words (luckily no fights).
Sometimes I’ll stand, but since I’m on my sofa nobody gives a shit except my dog who was trying to nap.
