Your game day post, can’t spell SUGAR without…

By the time I got last night’s quarterfinal turned on, it was 14-0 Penn State. I spent most of yesterday afternoon/early evening preparing New Year’s Day lunch for my family and my dad. I know pork is a traditional New Year’s Day dish but, my Dad is a big fan of the beef liver that I make in the crockpot. So, the pork will have to come from the smoked neckbone and bacon that I put in the collards. Mrs. Day and I washed, stemmed and shredded collards, browned the liver and got everything together, ready and loaded into the crockpots. That all kicked on and started cooking around 4:00am this morning. A pot of Blackeyed Peas and a bowl of mashed potatoes were started at 11:00am. Plates will be served at noon. Here’s wishing all of you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Here’s the college football schedule through Friday of this week:

We got one quarterfinal out of the way last night and three more to slog through today. I’m no prognosticator but, I see TX, OR and UGA advancing today. Here’s a quick look at the bracket and who goes where after today…

I’m pleased with UGA’s bracket, toughest game should be the last one. In advance of tonight’s game, UGA has released the hype video for the quarterfinal against the Irish, narrated by Ladd McConkey…:

If that don’t get ya going, you need to go to the doctor’s office, strip down naked and have him check you from head to toe cause something is wrong with you.

Your Gameday Post, ND & Dawgs

It’s conference championship weekend. The final pieces of the playoff puzzle should fall into place after this weekend. With the limited amount of games today, I decided to just do 1 game day post. Here’s today’s schedule:

The only 2 games of consequence, in my mind, are the SEC Championship and the ACC Championship. The World’s Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party will probably attract more viewers than it ever has considering the playoff implications on the outcome of that game. I expect a lot of the country to tune in to that one with the sentiment primarily leaning towards Clemson’s opportunity to keep Bama out.

The SEC game, is what it is. I’ll never turn down an SEC Championship but, unfortunately, the CFP has become the be all end all of the college football season. So, a loss isn’t the end of UGA’s road but, sure will make things tougher. Let’s just whip the Horns’ ass and move ahead. You ready? Let’s get hyped!

Your game day post, to hell with tech edition

Good morning uhhhh… afternoon! First time we’ve had to do this in 30 years. I’d love to see the same 48-10 outcome! Unfortunately, I won’t be watching along with the rest of you tonight. Mine and ee’s high school alma mater (Worth County High School) won a region title this year for the first time since 1995. We’ve advance through the first two rounds and are hosting Fitzgerald tonight. We will be attending the game to cheer on our local boys and we’ll keep a watch on our phones for scoring updates. As I told a buddy this week, UGA can handle the nerds without me watching. And… if they can’t, I really don’t want to see that anyway!

So, I place the outcome of this game in your hands. I will take no responsibility or credit for this game… lol.

Your game day post, play the backups edition

UGA kicks off at 1245 today against the University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Word is, they have a really good long snappuh. So, don’t get cocky about today’s game.

Most of the buzz I’ve seen leading up to today’s game has been about, who will we get to see play QB? Will some of the other benchwarmers get into the game? Of course, I think I read a stat this week that 9 freshmen played in last week’s win over the Vols? Seems most everyone gets a chance to get on the field, as long as they are doing their job and showing good things in practice. So, I don’t know how many new faces we’ll see today but, we’re all waiting with bated breath!

Your game day post, back at home edition

Well, this, by all appearances is a do-or-die game for our beloved Dawgs. The college football industrial complex deep-state has organized and conspired against our canine warriors to push them out of the playoff tournament. Well, to that, we say hell naw! It ain’t over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell naw! And it ain’t over now!

It is pretty much a playoff elimination game tonight. How will these Dawgs respond? We will see.

Your game day post, in the Sip edition

I’ve seen ESPN’s probable win percentage for this game several times over the past 2 weeks. They have all favored the Rebels based on ESPN’s ridiculous FPI rankings. Vegas disagrees. Who you gonna believe?

Oh yeah, it’s Georgia Florida! Let’s go!!!!!!!!

If you need a lot of analysis and insight to get up for this game… turn in your Dawg card. It’s the hated Gators and it’s time to bag them up again and throw them on the trash pile of history.

With the amount of ink spilled over this game, I see no need for any editorializing or prognosticating on my part. I’ll just say, this is a big game for UGA and it would be nice to get this win and somewhat change the media narrative about Georgia. TX & OK do not belong in the SEC.

Are You Not Entertained – Monday Question, Part 1

Kirby Smart, in a rare PR stumble.

Kirby neglects to remember some folks in ‘Dawg Nation may be still picking up pieces left behind in Helene’s wake. Also, this could be the result of scheduling a key SEC game as your Homecoming game, when folks on Greek row are busy visiting friends and holding socials this past weekend. In other words, the focus on Saturday may have been on anything and everything other than football.

I don’t go to home games often. The price point and four kids prevents me from going often, but I noticed in recent years that the game experience is little different from when I was going more routinely around 13 years ago. Maybe that’s part of the problem. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s October and instead of hints of fall we’re getting hints of planet Mercury. I watched and, yes, it was a rather pedestrian affair to behold, but it’s still Auburn and I was interested to see if they could put it together without turnovers and become the offensive machine I know they’re capable of being. Lo and behold there were no turnovers, and Georgia won by a comfortable 18 points.

Maybe it’s the comfort of being able to win without racking up style points. Maybe it’s because there’s a lack of a flashy playmaker on either side of the ball, or big plays and big scores. Maybe it’s that we’ve owned Auburn long enough to where our younger students who attend (some of them were 9 and 10 years old last time Auburn won) don’t know the joy it brings in seeing anything Orange lose to the ‘Dawgs.

Curious for your thoughts…what’s wilting the experience in Athens?
