Did you hear about this?
“Our fans are the heartbeat of Teal Nation, and we’re always looking for ways to elevate their game day experience,” Miller said. “With the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal, we’re excited to offer free concessions this fall as a way to say thank you for the energy, passion and support they bring to Brooks Stadium every game.”
Ticket-purchasing patrons visiting the concession stands will be able to acquire four items per concession stand visit from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks. There is no limit to the number of in-game visits, but fans must scan each trip through the line with the soon-to-be-launched Coastal Carolina Athletics App.
Outside of a coke or a bag of peanuts, I don’t think I’ve graced the concession stands much in Sanford, ever. Most of my dining and drinking takes place outside of the stadium, if I’m being honest, or I haven’t had the patience to wait in a line for anything with a game going on.
Do you do much in-game shopping…and would a “free eats” be more of an incentive to purchase a ticket if you’d recently stopped?
If you think concession lines are bad now just wait until it’s free. Jeez!
We have gotten so disgusted over the general cost that we shop little. We’ll smuggle in a few drinks and just fill our craws at the tailgate with much more delicious cuisine. Our illustrious AD(I spoke with him on this) thinks the pricing is grand and much cheaper than other SEC competitor. when I suggested he follow Blanks lead at the Mercedes Benz stadium he just laughed. The lines, the card only no cash and the general incompetence of the help are also a turnoff. Why miss any of the game for that?
Good for Coastal Carolina for trying to do something for their fans. I do worry, like the poster above, that lines will be brutal. The best version of these is when the Braves allowed you to bring outside food/NA drinks into Turner Field. That was awesome when I was still taking kids to the ballpark.
No idea if they still allow this at the new place.
I do not need alot of food or fancy drink options at a UGA game. I just want to be able to get a bottle of water or Diet Coke without missing half of a quarter. Same goes for using the restrooms.
Their AD is going to regret “free”. Just offer a $1 menu, unlimited, of the same items in the way that the Masters is able to keep their food concession items cheap. More appreciated, respected and would result in less chaos. I expect hot dogs are going to be flying onto the field at CCU this season.
It’s both refreshing and extremely odd that an Athletics Director wants to do something very tangible for their fan base. Coastal does not have sellout crowds very often, so this is the tease to get the fringe fans to come to the stadium similar to a minor league baseball promotion . Building a long term brand with ideas like this will be a win win. As you say he may regret it but I doubt you will hear it, too much impact good publicity to be had.
Takes 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 cokes to a whole new level.
