Your game day post, Marshall edition

Good morning again! The highly anticipated day has arrived. Your Georgia Bulldogs take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at 1530 today.

Kickoff: Saturday, August 30 – 3:30 p.m. ET
Location: Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium (93,033) | Athens, Ga. 2024
Records: Georgia (11-3, 6-2 SEC), Marshall (10-3, 7-1 SBC)
2025 Preseason Rankings: Georgia #5, Marshall NR
TV: ESPN (Mike Monaco, Kirk Morrison & Dawn Davenport)
Radio: Scott Howard (PxP), Eric Zeier (Color), DJ Shockley (sideline)
Audio Stream: georgiadogs.com
Satellite: SiriusXM (119 or 191)
All-Time Series Results: UGA 1-0
Last Meeting: UGA won 13-3 in Athens, 9/18/2004

The last season opening loss for UGA was 2013 when they fell to Cllemson 38-35, the streak of 11 consecutive season opening wins is on the line today. During Smart’s tenure, the Dawgs are 9-0 in season openers. The current benchmark for consecutive season opening wins is held by FU (#FTMF), accomplished from 1990 to 2015 for a total of 26 straight. We’re not even halfway there but, we coming!

Former Dawg coach, Jim Donnan, is also a former Marshall coach who roamed their sidelines from 1990-1995 with a record of 64-21. Which, evidently, was enough for UGA to decide that he’d have to be better than Goff!

Here is the digital Game Program from Georgia Dogs dot com.

The block G will be painted in the end zone this season. And block lettering will be used on the field. McGarity’s slop is finally being shown the door.

And, no matter what the talking shitheads want to say about us, we are the defending SEC Champions, AGAIN! Come try and take it.

This post is open for your UGA game day comments throughout the game. It’s almost time to…

Go Dawgs!

  1. It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful afternoon up there. Can you even get tickets from the “scalpers” outside the stadium like you used to?

  2. I’m conflicted…GREATLY… I got sick of the Archie hype pre-game show and thought, “I’ll pull for OSU”…then they showed Ryan Day and I thought..”Maybe I’ll pull for Texas”. Then I thought about the arrogant, entitled Texas fans and changed my mind again..then I thought about the arrogant OSU fans and reconsidered. Again. It’s early but I think Texas has the edge..but who knows. It looks to be an entertaining game regardless…and one of them has to lose so that’s the good thought I’ll hang on to.

    • I feel bad for the Manning kid. All that hype will be hard to live up to. I actually like the Mannings, all the way back to Archie unless they were playing us but …
I just don’t like Texas. And I’m mad at tOSU for making me not care if tOSU doesn’t lose.
      Let me be first” #FTMF.
Yes, I am pouring one out for my good friend RangerRuss. Go Dawgs.

      • I choose to be more optimistic. This is the reason to root for meteors. The Shoe is the perfect place right now. I’m not picky an ice comet explodes over the stadium. Now that’s must see tv.

I thought no fanbase could be more obnoxious than tOSU. Texas should be in their conference. They are certainly their peers in being easy to hate.

  3. Arch Jr. is having a bad outing…
and Ryan Day is a super asshole.
    Both defenses look really tough.

  4. Thanks Otis for the roster, can’t tell the players without one, and all you do to keep this site functioning for all of us.

  5. I missed hearing why Zeier is not on today’s broadcast…?

    • He’s spending more time with his family. I really don’t know the reason but, it was announced a couple months ago. He won’t be in the booth this year.

      • Thanks. Media guide still lists him. Don’t know who this Josh guy is. Should bring Shockley up.

        • Lineman from Richts 2002-2004 teams and has done post game work plus Cartersville HS games.

  6. Well…nearly called play 1 and nailed it for lay 2. Steak knives prize?

  7. Crap…I must have tuned into a replay of the 2022 season. That Stetson Bennett kid is a gamer.

  8. This dawg’s tail is wagging!

Love getting the qb involved in the run game.

    Key to the season.

  9. I am at the game. I noticed the video board is showing a LOT of our plays from our two wins against Texas. That isn’t by accident; we are stating a message.
    Gaskilldawg

  10. Gunner’s read-option is going to free up some running room for us this year. He really allows it to breathe, not just wave at the handoff.

    • I’d like to see some read options up the gut but I love the qb in the running game.

  11. Looks like Kirby’s gonna manball this fucker all the way to the finish line.

  12. Can we at least take a shot down field? Clearly low confidence in Gunner’s arm… Branch is a beast!

  13. Man..you GTP writers need to read RBR…it’s a gold mine of defeatism.

  14. I like these new rule changes this year where the QB can actually run the ball and receivers are allowed to catch the ball.

    • I also like this new team rule where backups can play with plenty of time on the clock. Pugs looks good.

  15. Headed for the cover and under. I think this is the way to have won big in the Kirby era.

  16. Everyone please, if you’re focused on the Dawgs please take a moment to say a quick prayer for the assholes from Tallahassee to hang on and beat the assholes from Tuscaloosa.

    In Jesus name we pray.

    Amen.

  17. Damn. Alabama’s gonna need to open more domestic violence shelters this year.
