Your 09-12 (ND) Game Day Post

Good morning! All the build up to the season kinda ended with a whimper last weekend. Oh, you had some upsets and controversy but, were any of last weekend’s games instant classics? Maybe, but for the wrong reasons.

This week gives us one matchup of ranked teams and, it’s a doozy, a top 5 matchup between #1 Ohio State and #5 Texas. The words “meteor game” get thrown around a lot but, in this case, it fits. As much as it pains me, I’m gonna go for Texas to win this. I’d rather an SEC team knock off OSU. If Georgia is all we think they can be, they can handle Texas down the road. Now, I’m not betting on Texas, I’m just looking for any angle that benefits UGA.

Nothing would warm my cold, black heart more than seeing Bama get throttled in the quagmire that Kentucky can become. A loss here and ol’ Kalen’ll be feeling a might bit warm in the seat. Another meteor game takes place in the ATL today. I actually think it would be more entertaining if Yech wins but, I ain’t ever rooting for them sumbitches (or those other sumbitches, either). Speaking of hot seats, if Clay Helton and the GSU Eagles walk out of death valley with a win today, the heat in the actual Death Valley won’t compare to Dabo’s hot seat.

Week 2 is ready for kickoff. This post is open for your comments throughout today’s games.

Your 09-05 (ND) Game Day Post

Good morning! Well, the appetizers are over. Time for the main course. However, I must say the Thursday Night Tears of Tech was magnifico! What’s on the main course for today, you might ask?

That UCLA/Cal game gonna hit like crack. There’s not one matchup today of ranked teams, this is very much tune-up weekend. Y’all got anyone on upset alert? Last I saw, the WarTigerPlainsmenEagles are a 7.5 favorite. Be interesting to see what Baylor can give them. Of course, the spread isn’t always an indicator that be indicating at the first of the season, just ask Rutgers. Per the oddsmakers, two of the closely competitive games are the two 10:30pm kickoffs, so, if you watch, may be entertaining enough to keep you awake (passing out in a drunken stupor doesn’t count), not that they are marquee games, just evenly matched per the odds.

Week 1 is here folks. This post is open for your comments throughout today’s games.

Go Dawgs!

It’s the First Day of College Football Season

Drink if you got ’em.

Memories…

Enjoy the day. Here’s you ND Game Day Post…

Sure, it ain’t pretty, but, in the short term, it’ll do.

Enjoy the day, Refugees.

And, as always, even if it’s a week away…Go Dawgs.

The Conference Champion Nobody Knew About

If you thought Duke winning the ACC was a surprise, imagine being one of their dozens and dozens of football fans.

The team with the lowest average attendance (granted, Wallace Wade is not a big venue, seating 40,000 people) that could barely fill Paulson Stadium in Statesboro wins the conference, unbeknownst to Duke fans. Then the best quarterback you’ve never heard of bolts for Miami for Carson Beck-esque dollars.

Not much to come back for in 2026, I guess.

Kind of reminds me of Ole Miss, except the quarterback was compelled to stay by a local judge.

It just means more litigation, amirite?

Bias, By Ass

My dad was telling me about this yesterday, so I looked it up. I think some of the results would surprise many of us around here in the least.

This one, though, was a touch surprising to me…

Kirk Herbstreit (ESPN) +44 SEC bias

ESPN’s leading personality covering college football can’t seem to escape the accusations of bias despite multiple efforts to push back against the narrative.  Herbstreit has gone as far as saying, “These people talking about the SEC, how much they pay you — are you kidding me? I’ve been here for 30 years.

Herbstreit is the highest-ranking individual in our poll who reported a bias that didn’t tie to an alma mater or a recent coaching job. Herbstreit, a former  Ohio State captain, clearly disagrees with the insinuation that he’s in the bag for ESPN and the SEC. Unfortunately for Herbstreit and ESPN, there is still work to be done, as nearly two-thirds of our voters believe there is a bias toward the SEC despite Herbstreit’s continued protests.

Let me just say he ain’t biased for Georgia, that’s for sure. While Mickey may have made him into an SEC shill, let’s not look past his infamous efforts to sway QBs from Georgia, although he did us a favor when we dodged Raiola. Maybe he’s a Georgia fan, come to think of it. Hmm.

How Finebaum got anything but a 100 on the thing is slightly a headscratcher, but it’s not scientific. Anyway, in case you’re wondering who came in as the least biased…here ya go.

At least McAfee has something going for him.

Your 12/06 Championship Day Post

Good morning! Well, plenty has been said, plenty has been predicted and plenty of all that means jacksquat. We’re one hour from kicking it off and putting the final puzzle pieces of the playoff together. And, with that and without any further useless commentary from me, here’s the TV schedule for today:

Also, here are the broadcasts for the SECCG today:

  • ABC: Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit with Holly Rowe and Laura Rutledge
  • SECN: SkyCast with Natural Sound
  • ESPN: Field Pass: Will Compton, Taylor Lewan, Josh Pate, Harry Douglas

Good morning! Well, my Rams survived another round of the GHSA playoffs. The Dawgs are in the SECCG and all but a lock for the playoffs. At least I have the Dolphins to keep me from getting overly excited.

The remaining pieces of the conference championship games puzzle should be in place by the end of the day. Here are your friendly neighborhood TV listings for today:

So? Who we want? Bama or Ole Miss?

Your 11/22 (ND) Game Day Post

Good morning!

It’s cupcake weekend… or just another weekend in the Big 10. Here’s today’s slate of games:

One interesting playoff scenario I read this week stated that, if Kentucky beats Vanderbilt today, Georgia will be in the SEC Championship game regardless of how the remaining games play out. I don’t think that is correct, would still need A&M to lose to bring SOS into play. But, gives an interesting point to watch for when those 2 kickoff at 3:30 today. (EDIT: On 2nd thought, I see where it plays in, if Bama & Ole Miss win out, 3-way tie for 2nd, goes to UGA on SOS. I think that’s correct.)

This post is open for your Non-Dawg game comments through out the day.

Your 11/15 (ND) Game Day Post

Good morning!

Our long national nightmare is over!

Some potential for CFP chaos today. Florida has the opportunity to do something that would be hilarious, considering all the smoke around Kiffin, FU and OM. And, Pitt, please rid us of this overrated, overhyped Notre Dame team. And, I shouldn’t have to say it but, goshdarn it, I love saying it, to hell with Georgia Tech, go Eagles! And, go Wolfpack… just because.

Go Hawkeyes.

So, what are you watching for today? Any other games that might blow up the CFP rankings? This post is open for your non-Dawg game comments throughout the day.

Your 11/08 (ND) Game Day Post

Good morning! It’s another college football Saturday. Here is today’s TV listings for those who still have a TV subscription…

I saw where Tulane took out Memphis last night. Some people’s projected college football playoff brackets already got blowed up! Maybe everyone should just sit back and let it play out. Of course, there’s no click$ in that are there?

Bah, get off my lawn, #FTMF and Go Dawgs!
