Your Daily Dawg P*rn – Ladd and Brock

Let’s go back a few years, to a time when Daniel’s was our quarterback, and we were just starting to learn more about an unheralded wide out spurned by the likes of Tennessee. We have a pair of 12 yard touchdowns here, the first coming on an end around to Bowers that resulted in a 12 yard score (1:00 mark), then another around the 3:05 mark of a beautiful high-point catch for Ladd’s first receiving touchdown of his career.

Ladd would later score on a 24 yard end around himself at the 3:45 mark in the highlight video. Bowers would finish with three total touchdowns and Ladd with 2, en route to a 62-0 Kirbstomping of the hapless Commodores, lead by Lea in his first year as the Commodores head coach following Derek Mason’s “not with a bang but a whimper” end in Nashville featuring Sarah Fuller kicking field goals in 2020. At what point can we officially call 2020 an anomaly and forget all about it? Hell it was the last time Florida beat Georgia after all, and we didn’t even get a chance to beat play Tech either.

Yecch.

Your Daily Dawg P*rn – Kendall Milton

Dial it up to the 6:40 mark, and you’ll see a 14 yard scamper off tackle that was so well executed, even Beck knew it was 6…

And while we’re on the subject, Milton had his first pro touchdown the other night…helping Philadelphia pull off the preseason win against the Patriots.

Go Dawgs!

Success by Association

Well, that’s one way the ACC can finally arrive at some credibility. Or maybe not, especially when Danny boy is getting on board with basking in reflective glory.

There’s a healthy number of medals for the ACC that can be attributed to Ledecky alone. They even made a point of celebrating it through the conference social media.

Whenever readers have to add context to a Twix, especially given the unchecked dribble on the platform, you know it’s shady. To be clear, Ledecky won a few medals as a Gator, then later as a Cardinal.

Meanwhile, Gators and Dawgs are actually pairing up to win gold. What’s this world coming to? At least the conference can rightly take credit for this (note, the SEC has been including Texas as part of their medal count, so not throwing stone. Just an odd take in the modern conference expansion era).

Somewhere out there, Washington State and Oregon State must be ramping up their social media campaign to answer to the low medal count for the conference. Maybe they can backtrack and just count the medals that would’ve been associated with the conference…fire up the WABAC machine and take count, Beavs and Cougs. Everyone else is doing it, right?

For today’s Daily Dawg P*rn, it’s nice to revisit the game that set the record for most consecutive wins for an SEC team…last year’s harder-than-expected Tech matchup. What’s even better for our Dawg P*rn countdown, it included a 29-yard score, a connection I hope to see more often this year in the 2024 season: Beck to Lovett.

Lost in the light of recent events is that the Georgia receiver room should be a solid group, with Lovett, Bell, and Colbie Young likely being the end-of-the-alphabet group on offense.

Speaking of, in case you missed it, Thomas has been dismissed from the team, so, yeah, it’s Colbie Young season in Athens now.

Here’s the complete game highlights, which I hope are more Bulldog-heavy this season. Turns out we were looking ahead and also underestimating Tech’s resolve, which, given the outcome the following week, probably has been a talking point for Kirby during the offseason and leading into the season’s start:

Talk coming out of the off-season and spring practice is that this might be a breakout season for Bell. Whether it’s Bell, Lovett, Young, or anyone else, one things remains the same:

Fuck Tech. Brent Key is making a big deal about this becoming a rivalry again, but I’m content to beat the vigor out of the nerds and return them their Geoff Collins glory days.

Your Daily Dawg P*rn – Miracle on the Plains

With 30 days to go, I think this might be the most famous thirty yard score I can recall in my 49 years as a Dawg fan:

It wouldn’t be the last time that season that Bobo and Allen would hook up at the last moment to crush another team’s spirits. Just as famously was this 8 yard score against the Nerds:

There wasn’t much to be excited about in 1996 as a Dawg fan, but these were still great to see then, as they are still now.

Maize and Blues

If you’re a betting fan, I hope you didn’t lay any money down on Michigan making it to the field of 12 in this – or next – year’s College Football Playoff.

Reporting on this is very preliminary, but it is linked to the Stallions cheating scandal. Before anyone panics about this season though, the early insider has this to say:

The report states that the NCAA could seek to punish Michigan by banning the team from the postseason for one or two years. Balas reports that if this is indeed the case, Michigan would fight the punishment and it’s unlikely the ban would be in place for the upcoming college football season as the case would not be heard by the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions until 2025.

I’m guessing a coaching change and a scandal to boot isn’t going to make navigating the Big 10 schedule any easier, so I’ll make a bold prediction to say Michigan isn’t sniffing the CFP anytime soon.

Question – why wait until this season for a ruling? More decidedly frustrating – would an earlier punishment have meant Georgia could’ve crept into the CFP? You know who is more pissed about this? Let’s check in with our colleagues in Tallahassee for more:

Cue up the self-proclaimed Champions talk again. And while you’re at it, go ahead and attach the * to the 2023 season.

Methinks San Diego looks better by the day for Harbaugh.

Taking a ‘Sip

For your 33 days to go Dawg P*rn, here’s Milton’s run to the house in our 2023 matchup with Ole Miss:

Watching the replay, it’s amazing the quick cut made in reading the block that jumps out at me. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

So was this:

Lord, that was an offensive masterclass of a game. In case you need a Monday jolt, here it is in fifteen minutes:

Go Dawgs!

Media CamPain

To help scrub our eyes of that monstrosity of a graphics tease provided by ESPN, let’s take a look at Zeus running 42 yards for a TD. Let’s also note the look of utter defeat on the Handbags sideline.

Note to SEC and ESPN: if you’re going to include Florida highlights in your media campaigns, you might want to dial it back about twenty years. Outside of that, any video clips should only include this:

FTMFs.

“Nick Saban Field”

Crimson Tide. Elephants. Roll Tide. Bryant. Denny. Now, Nick Saban Field. Alabama folks just like having a smorgasbord of names and options, don’t they? Between the Auburn and Alabama programs alone there’s enough names and mascots to fill a phone book.

They’ll deem the green grass that Mr. LANK Milroe will dominate this year as “Nick Saban Field”:

Alabama will dedicate the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Saban’s honor on Sept. 7, the day of the Crimson Tide’s matchup against USF, according to a report by Tide Illustrated. The stadium will keep the same name, while the playing surface itself will now be named “Nick Saban Field” after the head coach.

So who gets the honor of being the first visiting SEC team to play upon Nick Saban Field?

Somehow, I get the feeling they’ll move the dedication to September 28th and do something to make sure Saban in on the sideline, to boot.
