With 30 days to go, I think this might be the most famous thirty yard score I can recall in my 49 years as a Dawg fan:
It wouldn’t be the last time that season that Bobo and Allen would hook up at the last moment to crush another team’s spirits. Just as famously was this 8 yard score against the Nerds:
There wasn’t much to be excited about in 1996 as a Dawg fan, but these were still great to see then, as they are still now.
1996–Sanford Stadium was sporting a brand new audio system thanks to the Olympics, and they chose to break it in during the rain fest with Texas Tech. Enter “The Macarena” pumped in loud and heavy. I had Larry on the earphones and he was not happy.
“I can’t believe they’re playing that STUPID song AGAIN.”
I don’t remember hearing it much, if at all after that.
That was my first game as a student at UGA. I remember the rain but not The Macarena.
It’s always great to piss on Auburn and Tech.
Credit to Coach Richt baking the cake and Coach Smart adding the frosting to killing those two rivalries over the past 20 years. All that’s left is really getting the winning streak in our favor versus Tech. We’ve beat Auburn’s arses so much that bitching about the sprinklers (I wasn’t there) and demanding some meaningless home game because UGA caves to SEC/Disney every time just sounds like loser talk.
Got kicked out of the Texas Tech game when an usher discovered my liquor – only time ever. A blessing in disguise.
Went to O’Malley’s and enjoyed the game on TV while drying out and sitting at the table with MIss UGA.
I was also at that 4 overtime Auburn game.
