Much Adieu About Nothing: Or How I Came to Love the Transfer Portal – Act II, More Lords and Ladies!
In today’s Act II of a Shakespearean History of the Billy Napier era at Florida, we dial it back to his assembly of his staff. The Bulldogs had just shattered the 41 year curse, Kirby was King, and the pressure in Gator Nation was turning up a notch. Author’s note – yes, I have a life and do cut the grass, Dylan Dreyer’s Booty. I do my level best and lean on my public school education to draft a Shakespearean account, and where I get stuck, ChatGPT helps out (thanks AI). Shaking the cobwebs out of my head and referencing back to Shakespearean language and Theater class has been a fun endeavor, and I’m glad y’all enjoy it. I might quit my job and go work Renaissance Fairs now.
Anyway, let’s see how it all plays out, Cotton, in today’s Act II.
Act II, Scene I – A New King is Crowned
Enter Herald
Herald: Hear ye, hear ye! The Bulldog Nation doth rejoice,
For they have vanquish’d the Alabama Crimson Tide,
In their noble quest for a National Championship.
Enter Stetquavious Bennett, a dark horse Knight
Herald: Behold the valiant Knight, Stetquavious Bennett,

With courage fierce to conquer the Crimson Tide.
Enter Sir Ringo
Herald: And lo, Sir Ringo, with deft and skillful hand,
Did seal the victory with a bold interception,
Breaking the spell of forty-one long years of sorrow.
Enter Kirby, crowned as King
Herald: Now Kirby doth ascend the throne as King,
With laurel wreath and joyous acclamation,
The Bulldog Nation hails their sovereign liege.
Act II, Scene II – The Rival Nation Assembles Their Army
Enter the desolate swamps in the Kingdom of Gainesville. Prince Billy is seen assembling his army. He is accompanied by various Lords and soldiers.
Enter Prince Sticklin.
Prince Billy: Assemble, ye brave souls from far and wide,
For only by might and mastery o’er Georgia’s pride,
Can we claim the laurels of victory.

who turned A realm in Louisiana, known to none,
Into a beacon of splendor and might?
Didst thou not hear of my grand exploits?
Prince Stricklin: But Billy!
Prince Billy: Silence thy tongue!
My genius is profound, Beyond reproach in wisdom infinite.
We shall conquer both the recruitment and the field,
And bring glory to our name!
I acquir’d a former Lady from the Bulldog Nation,
Their ranks replete, shall cower at the throne of King Billy Napier!
Prince Billy strikes a commanding pose, and the Lords and soldiers cheer.
Act II, Scene III – A Knight Arrives in Gator Nation
Enter Prince Billy, resolute in his quest to find the noblest of knights. From the mist emerges Knight Jaden.
Prince Billy: Behold, from the shadows comes a savior,
Knight Jaden, whose valor shines as bright as dawn.
Knight Jaden kneels before Prince Billy.
Prince Billy: Rise, Knight Rashada, for thou shalt lead Legions yet unborn,
restoring glory To the fair realm of Florida.
Prince Billy turns to his advisors and assembled lords.
Prince Billy: For this grand vision, we need coffers deep,
To draw forth gold for the finest knights,
Ensuring our ranks are strong and well-compensated.
With such a force, we shall overcome The dark dominion of the Bulldogs fierce.
The advisors nod, and the lords murmur their agreement.
Prince Billy: Prepare, for we march towards a future bright,
Our banner high, our resolve unyielding,
To claim our place in the annals of history.
