Just saying.

Granted, itās not been against stellar competition, but I hear they are fun to watch. Not that Iām watching anything but highlight films. Okay, I lied, I actually watched the Tech tilt, and we won.
Maybe itās a year of firsts.

Yes, yes, it’s still football season…but this team could be fun to watch this year, especially Dominique’s son.
Georgia scored 120 points, the most since scoring 124 against Western Kentucky in 1990.
I still won’t watch, but maybe you’ll find some enjoyable roundball action this season for the Dawgs.
Guhā¦

Hereās some video from the slaughterā¦
The tall lanky kid doing the one hand windmill is Dominiqueās kid.
Family traditions, for the win.
By the way, before you say āitās just Maryland Eastern Shoreā, this is the same team that just barely lost to Tech on Monday, 56-52.
Iād like to get optimistic, but Iām not going to. Iāll just watch the highlights on X instead of tuning in to games.
Well, well, wellā¦
It worked with Dominique, is all Iām saying.
Maybe the Atlanta franchises are starting to learn a thing or two about keeping it local. And letās just not talk about the Braves, shall we?
Go Dawgs and congrats to Asa!
Thereās rumblings that the NCAA Menās and Womenās tourneys are due for an expansion. You could only guess the one reason why.
The NCAA has had good conversations with the networks. Translated: the NCAA had a good conversation on revenue.
Iāll give them credit here, though. Theyāre at least starting to be honest about it.
It’s been a while since a Bulldawg has had their name mentioned in the NBA Draft, but sounds like Asa Newell will have to be the new trend-setter for Mike White’s program.
Question is…does Newell even “feel like” a Bulldawg? Ditto Anthony Edwards, who was one and done at Georgia in his time prior to doing well in the NBA.
It was, at one time, what maybe made watching college basketball a challenge, knowing that the rules allowed for someone to be a one-off player, then comes the fan “theology” that someone used a program as a stepping stone to get to the league. This would likely play into someone’s internal criteria of what makes for a “DGD” or similar narratives based on an athlete’s time in a program or “dedication” to the school.
Fact of the matter is, if the NFL had similar rules in place, where an athlete has to be at least one year removed from high school (note: college attendance is not necessary, just trying to discourage the high school-direct to league jump…why? Hell if I know) there would be a slew of guys trying to make the leap after one year in a program. I would argue that many draftable football players coming out of high school could benefit from the strength and conditioning programs in college programs, plus with better NIL offers, you’re encouraged to stick around a while if you’re a football player, whereas baseball or basketball players are reportedly making lesser valuation. That leads to this:
It’s going to be seemingly harder and harder to get a program “lifer” anymore, as it has been regardless of NIL or not. It’s been also harder and harder to really attend to college basketball or baseball given the amount of turnover and roster movement that occurs each year, at least for me, to be honest. That’s not to say there’s no value there, it just makes it harder in the “spirit” of amateurism and college sports to watch. Hell, even pro teams at least have a core of athletes that are stable for a few seasons…whereas in some college sports, over half if not the entire roster of a team can be different from one season to the next.
Does the roster turnover make it harder for you to watch college sports…or have you adopted an “it is what it is” mindset to continue to enjoy the sport as it is today?
The portal is portaling.

I realize that basketball for many of us is a āmehā, but in my time in Athens there were a few short glory years with Tubby Smith, who likewise hit the portal for more money and a school that also seems to take the sport seriously with facilities, resources, and culture.
If Alabama and Florida can do it, Georgia certainly could, too.
Where would it start? Whatās the steps that Brooks et al could take to show Georgia is invested in building a basketball program and not just an afterthought to the football season?
Well, it was miserable while it lasted.

We essentially pulled a 2024 football moveā¦deciding not to play until late in the first. Gonzaga jumped out to a quick 27-3 lead. Promise I still didnāt watch. Howād I know?

Somehow our big dance wasnāt a fairy tale, more like a Stephen King kind of story.
Oh well. Maybe next year.
Just like every year.
Of course I wonāt be watching, as Iāve told yall before. But, in case you are, tip is set for 4:35 pm EST on TBS.
If you do watch, feel free to comment here and keep a thread going. I wonāt call it a Gameday Post, because I worry thatās a jinx on our other sports outside of football. In the meantime, how long does it take you to spot the throwback logo for the Dawgs?

Go āDawgs!
Quick quiz, see if you can get this right:
Of the 14 SEC teams in the NCAA Tournament, which team has the lowest odds of winning the championship?
Georgia Bulldogs (+30000) ā At-Large Bid
Despite receiving a No. 9 seed, the Georgia Bulldogs have the worst odds of any SEC team to win it all this season. Georgia did pick up massive wins over Florida, Oklahoma and Kentucky during SEC play. Itās certainly a frisky team as a No. 9 seed, as KenPom has the Bulldogs as the No. 34 overall team and No. 24 defense in the country.
In fact, every SEC team is favored to win in their initial bracket contest except for Georgia.
Did Greg Sankey make the schedule up? Inquiring minds want to know.
Although Gonzaga is predicted to make some noise in the tournament, they are also prone to early exits and blown opportunities, and their schedule was one that even Georgia couldāve gotten 30 wins in this year:

They havenāt played a ranked team in the calendar year of 2025, and managed to lose three times in the process. Some of the advanced analytics says Georgia has a chanceā¦but is this a game where stats proves true over stature? We shall see.
