It’s a Dog Eat Dawg World

Quick quiz, see if you can get this right:

Of the 14 SEC teams in the NCAA Tournament, which team has the lowest odds of winning the championship?

Georgia Bulldogs (+30000) – At-Large Bid

Despite receiving a No. 9 seed, the Georgia Bulldogs have the worst odds of any SEC team to win it all this season. Georgia did pick up massive wins over Florida, Oklahoma and Kentucky during SEC play. It’s certainly a frisky team as a No. 9 seed, as KenPom has the Bulldogs as the No. 34 overall team and No. 24 defense in the country.

In fact, every SEC team is favored to win in their initial bracket contest except for Georgia.

Did Greg Sankey make the schedule up? Inquiring minds want to know.

Although Gonzaga is predicted to make some noise in the tournament, they are also prone to early exits and blown opportunities, and their schedule was one that even Georgia could’ve gotten 30 wins in this year:

They haven’t played a ranked team in the calendar year of 2025, and managed to lose three times in the process. Some of the advanced analytics says Georgia has a chance…but is this a game where stats proves true over stature? We shall see.

  1. We can hang with anyone when we’re playing well, it’s just been streaky so it’s hard to know what we’re gonna get on Thursday. I’d say it’s still 50/50 despite the Zags being favored. I’ve got the Dawgs advancing in my bracket!

  2. Tenacious D, rebounding, make the 3s, maximum effort all 40 minutes. Guessing we can start strong but question will be holding on in second half. Worry about Houston Friday morning.

    I wasn’t going to get emotionally invested….

  3. Dawgs need to believe in themselves. They have the players and depth to beat the Zags, just need to play a full game.

    • Understanding total team play is needed Thursday, Zags guard play will beat UGA basketball by 20 or can send us to Saturday play…GO DAWGS!!

  4. Also would like to say that I appreciate the Hoop Dawgs posts. I know the Senator stuck to football, but I like to follow all the Dawg sports and celebrate any win.

  5. Hoping for the best, will be surprised with a win. Would be stunned if they make the 2nd weekend. It’s good that there’s improvement but still a long way to go. With the talent in Atlanta I’ve never understood how the Dawgs could be so bad for so long.
