Or maybe I should’ve called this “Dammit, Bobo”.

Congrats to Monken, I know this was his goal. Whether or not it was with the Browns organization is another story, but here’s hoping he replicates the success in Cleveland that he had in Athens. I know my Browns/Bulldogs fan next door will greatly appreciate this.

I think we’ve wondered on here before about which fanbase is the most delusional, and this just continues to reinforce that it could be Carolina. Vanderbilt, I get it, and the former Big XII teams is another thing, but one would think that the Gamecocks had a bit more success than this.

Tell us all again why college football players, in the era of NIL, aren’t employees?

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of this, but this is the news on a slow Monday after the football season has ended. Kirby said they were doing similar to this with the CCC for players getting in trouble as a deterrent to the traffic crimes problem.

If they became employees, wouldn’t they have to have certain protections and benefits, workers compensation, all that? Sounds like another good question for the legal eagles on the blog to help us understand.

Fabris Pool Bowl Pickem Spectacular for 2025 Has a Winner!

It came down to two…

Congratulations to etdawgfan winning on the first tiebreaker, nailing the total points scored in the natty with 48! A few roses need to be thrown to second place JNoDawg for tying etdawgfan for the entirety of the bowl season, and predicting a tight game with his tiebreaker score; alas, he was a tad high in the total score with 54 points.

As for this season’s editions of the Fabris Pool, I leave you* with Col. Potter’s farewell to Hawkeye and BJ: “Well, boys, I wouldn’t call what we’ve been through fun, but I’m sure glad we went through it together.”

Batted Balls

Food for thought:

I posted earlier in the week last week that Gunner had some issues with batted balls, and many if you pointed out Stetson had the same issue in his first year as a starter. But so did Stafford on Sunday night.

One of the more fascinating concepts I learned when coaching football was that the offensive line is set up to pass block open lanes for the quarterback to pass. My immediate thought to why Gunner has trouble with this is his skill set…he’s programmed to run and said lanes are going to be flooded with guys looking to stop that. Should Bobo approach Gunner differently next year, allowing him to be more of a pure passer?

While I appreciate Stockton’s toughness, I have to wonder if all that running robs his ability to sit in the pocket and make better passes, like what we saw in Knoxville this year. There again, maybe the approach to play calling was to compensate for team shortcomings across the the line.

So is it the quarterback, or the offensive line? Discuss.

And Once Done, Let’s Get Ready for Seven Months of This

On second thought, I’m not sure I’m ready for all the off-season hot takes, such as this one.

There’s still the Senior Bowls next weekend…and then Spring Games (yes they will be back). But man, we’re about to go into hibernation mode and it’s a stretch to pull material in these doldrums of off-season months.
