Shut Up, Chip!

Seriously, seems like Kirby was able to take what the pundits gave him and spin it how he sees fit.

“What you know on the inside is a lot more than what people can paint pictures in the outside,” Smart said. “People use it in negative recruiting and then throw it out there. It comes back to bite them, too.”

Here’s the video of the press conference, though it’s a little hard to hear:

Let me be the first to say I’d like to see Kirby scissor kick Towers in the head, but I think Georgia’s – and Smart’s – retort came in the form of a 31 point victory, where the primary “culture problem” that’s been in everyone’s cross-hairs (Etienne) sat out the game.

Perhaps the greatest, and pardon the French here, “fuck you” to all of Smart’s detractors, from Dabo’s waxing on transfers to Towers et al’s coverage of off-field issues, would be this:

Georgia’s touchdowns yesterday were scored by:

  • A walk-on
  • A freshman who saw the field because of a suspension
  • Two receivers acquired through the transfer portal

For everyone’s memory jogger:

Looks like Dabo could’ve used a few guys yesterday, too bad they had to make a business decision to come to Georgia instead of Clemson, huh? Seems like they might’ve been better than the Clemson players, amirite? Or are we still doing it wrong in Athens, Dabo?

Something tells me that the people who spend excessive amounts of time spinning words should be in journalism, not coaching. And speaking of journalists, I’ll remind our darling Chip of this year’s team motto:

Assume nothing. Don’t assume that Smart doesn’t have morals and ethics. Don’t assume that players aren’t being internally disciplined. Don’t assume that there’s a “right way” and a “wrong way” to adapt to roster management.

And don’t assume that Georgia lacks depth and your exclusive coverage will cause a team downfall because of off-field issues. Kirby made both of these dunces look like fools on Saturday, and what was best, he came out looking better for it.
