Don’t chase $10 million coaches? Have they never heard of Jimmy Sexton? Hell, whoever they bring in will likely command a high dollar contract, and if it’s Schu, well, good on him. He’s put his time in and you’d be hard to argue against hiring from the Smart coaching tree (wait, what about Oregon?).

Give them credit for their optimism, that’s all they’ve got right now. In truth, I’m sure Schumann would like to bring Robinson with him, although I think Kirby would offer a nice chunk of change to retain as much Georgia staff as necessary and let Schumann pick from other places.(note: Fran Brown hasn’t exactly been doing well at Syracuse, so he could always come back to Athens or head to Tally, if this is the manifested destination).

To me Schuman would be an idiot to hitch his wagon to that. Why? Money? Another school will come calling soon enough with a situation that isnt nearly as FUBAR as what they have going on down there. A program that thinks it is a national power with a delusional fan base that believes it has a right to expect things that only a legendary coach did there decades ago.

Assistants getting promoted don’t have that kind of leverage. They’ll ask about financial commitment, but the only guarantee they want is the number in the buyout clause.

I have said for a while that Florida Stste is what Georgia used to be. Past success that is mostly so distant that only their fans remember or care about it. Delusional fan base that thinks the program is something it’s not. Expectations they have no right to in light of recent accomplishments. It’s all there. We used to be them. Thank God we aren’t anymore.

Clempsun will want a D coach. I think Schumann is headed there. FSU likely to hire one of the fired HCs coming up and lord help them but Brian Kelly has Sexton making calls.
Honestly, if they get Brian Kelly at this point, they’ll be outpunting the coverage.
We’re well on the way there, but I’m waiting for relegation. The SEC, Big Integer, and a few other programs (at least ND) will form D1, which will be pretty much like the NFL. Programs like FSU, Tech, Kansas State, et al. will be D2. They could be a feeder to D1 and the NFL or they could just be the equivalent of what used to be the “student (but mostly) athlete” thing that pre-dated NIL and the big Mickey money grab.
Regardless, whatever the level, they’re going to be pro leagues. De facto, we’re there already. It just needs to be formalized.
I would give them Schumann for free if they’d take Josh Brooks too.

I don’t know if anyone really wants Schumann but if he wants to get a HC job he needs to get the defense that he currently runs back to its former glory. Looks good so far, but how can you really tell?
