Texa$ Tea

Chaser:

Johnson flipped his commitment ten days-ish after committing to Georgia. Both Atkinson and Johnson had taken multiple trips to Athens over the years, and not unlike Justus Terry made the jump at the 11th hour.

Additional chaser:

All I can say is Sarkisian needs to win the SEC or better with all these top recruits and the money being thrown at them.

  1. Sark is full of shit. Texas is one of the few schools that actually can offer every recruit it wants the “most money.” Just own that fact and quit acting like the kids are coming for “culture” or their love of the school/program.

  2. What a crock of shit. Sark is outdoing the OSU payroll plan. All this hub bub about the “$20.5 million cap”. That’s already broken. If Kirby is successful (A Natty at this point) it will be a miracle. There are just not many kids left that care about growth vs. filling their pockets while they can(In Case they flame out) and if they can (When someone comes with millions). The rich just get richer.

    • Let them buy all the player they want. You then have a team of I vs me mentality. As Kirby mentioned those types probably will not take hard coaching very well. Plus they will be shopping for a better deal in 12 months. I presume their 2nd string player(s) at those positions will be looking to move on as well.

      • tosu has already won a title this way. It works & is the reason it will only get worse. Can’t believe I’ve grown to hate Texas this much in a year.

  3. These oil teams are the college football equivalent of the Yankees and Dodgers, outspending their competition by absurd amounts. That doesn’t mean they’ll win the title every year, but they’ll certainly have the best chances over the long haul.

College football has always been about the haves and have-nots. And players have always been paid. But boosters no longer have to find ways to hide the money anymore. We’re a long way from the hundred dollar handshakes and Herschel’s Trans Am.

  4. Tex-ass is quickly becoming my most despised school. Sark is such a liar. That Tex-ass money is the ONLY reason he is getting the top recruits. I’d “almost” give my left gonad to watch us beat the shit of them this fall. Yeah, Tex-ass is taking the Ohio state approach, hell, if I can’t win a natty, I’ll just buy one. FTMF!!

      • Not saying they will or they won’t. What I am saying is that initial word is that these collective deals are getting scrutiny as pay for play especially for recruits. Reps from the clearinghouse told the ACC at their spring meeting that 70% of collective deals entered into in the past would have been rejected due to concerns about FMV or valid business purpose (per Ross Dellinger).

        • I read the TU offer was raised this week to $ 1.5 million. I doubt that was in line with the other teams living inside a real limit. I have zero expectation the salary cap will be legit.

TU I fully expect will be the team to lead the league in ignoring the cap successfully. Look at their history. They’ve never done anything beyond selfishness and greed. Hated in every conference they’ve been in.

  5. If they get Cooper too, in which the guru’s say he’s leaning to Texass, you know is all about the MONEY!

  6. it will make spanking that ass a third time even more sweeter.
just point to the scoreboard with a laugh and a shit eating grin.
we are very lucky to have Kirby leading our program in these cfb times.

  7. Didn’t TAMU do this same thing in the past? And with a mass player exodus later? From what I recall, it did not bode well for them at the time.

    • They did and their coach lost his team. He suffered with the largest cash buyout in sports history.

Sark is a much better coach. Even more importantly the lawyers learned from that. New contracts can have claw backs if you try to take the money and run. Like the Aggie players did.

  8. To think an SEC/Texas Head coach would tell a bald faced lie, I’m shocked, I say, shocked! All that oil money has to be going somewhere.

  9. That video is disgusting. It clearly shows it is all about the money.

  10. Our liquor baron’s money would fit in their oil baron’s watch pocket!

  11. I am really close to officially being done with college football. Can’t beleive I’m saying that. Didn’t think anything would get me there!
