B1G Babies

When you just went through a season of talking point bullshit about how it’s not strength of schedule but quality of losses, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

I mean, it’s just Virginia. But when you’re Indiana, I guess I could see the threat, especially if one were to lose to what is considered a lower tier football team in a perceived lower-tiered football conference.

Warde Manuel, you could’ve always told Indiana to hire Stalions to steal their signals and not made it out like they were running scared.

But tell me again why the SEC should play 9 conference games?

For all we know, Kirby wasn’t referencing the B1G as one of those two.

  1. I would like to schedule the wahoos… we need some payback for those peach bowl debacles

    • We won the last 2 against them, the last being Donnan’s final game.

    • I dont know if we can ever get even for the 1978 Homecoming fiasco v UVA. That was one of the longest days ever in Athens for me. Just AWFUL.

  2. The Ohio Valley Conference, Upper Tier can all go suck a big ‘un. They are as top-heavy and overloaded with wussy non-contenders as the ACC.

  3. I’m not criticizing them. We have Marshall, Austin Peay and Charolette this year.

    • UGA was supposed to play UCLA but they cancelled. Granted Marshall might be a bigger game but UCLA is a P4 team.

        • That one had been on the travel list since it was announced. Very disappointing and totally expected after realignment.

        • seriously. I was sooooo pissed, I thought about going out there to watch the UCLA v Utah replacement game. Other people bitch about “cupcakes,” but Kirby always plays 10 P4 games. Just make everyone play 10 P4 games, let us have some interconference play.

The Big 10 schools complain, but lots of them (cough Penn St cough) have 3 nonconference cupcakes. The better SEC teams all have scheduled bigger OOC games the last 10 years. Many of us have OOC rivalry games, too. I am dead set against the 9 game SEC schedule and all the bitching about playing a cupcake game before rivalry week. If you only play 1 or 2, who cares when you play it? Sorry we arent scheduling for the maximum benefit of the Big 10, Big 12, or the ACC.

Also, can we give Texas and Missouri back to the Big 12? Sick of them, mostly Texas.

          • DSOR and WLOCP in Jax are my primary concerns.

I’d like a few more annual games, I’ve tried creating a list in Excel mapping out 3 and 4 permanent rivalries. It isn’t easy.

For example, LSU should play Bama, Ole Miss, Arky, Texas, and aTm. Likely biggest dilema and I’m leaving off Tiger Bowl.

Tenn. should get Bama, UK, and Vandy for certain. I’d like to see Ole Miss revived.

Looks at those school permanent games, if I were a LSU fan I’d be complaining about streenght of schedule as well. May you cold balance it out by making sure that don’t get say UGA, the same season, as OU or Tenn.

Back to UCLA. UGA has been etting dragged for cupcakes. Ohio State cancelled, Sankey forced the Oklahoma series to be cancelled. Now UCLA cancelled. Yes we had that date marked on the calendar as well.

    • My point being these are the same people arguing the SEC should match their 9 game conference schedule. The bottom half of the B1G is not close to the bottom half of the SEC. If they’re going to talk big about scheduling, they should prove it rather than arguing that the strongest football conference in the nation should beat themselves up further.

      • The Bwhatever they call themselves have always had more influence in the playoffs then they deserve with on field performance. They have a very loud media army suffering from SEC embarrassment.

    • We always have two power 5 opponents and 2 group of 5 opponents on our non-conference schedule. The only reason that’s different this year is because UCLA backed out of our home and home series with them once they joined the Big 10. We were scheduled to open at UCLA and we were lucky to get Marshall as a replacement on short notice. If you’re a Georgia fan, it seems you would have known that.
