At Least He Made the Playoffs, Finally

I mean, he clearly wasn’t going to get it done in Hogtown.

So what if…Bayou Billy goes to JMU, has great success, and Sumrall crashes and burns in Gainesville? Doesn’t that say more about the program than it does the coach?

Who am I kidding, I could care less…just as long as we keep beating the orange and blue in Jortsville. Speaking of…

Isn’t it warm and fuzzy to know that our defense, which is young yet growing, found a solution to the Faulkner problem just in time for him to be a Florida problem? Given the defensive mess that is Georgia Tech, they may have worked a new contract out for the wrong dude.

It soothes the soul, no?

  1. …and the steady hand of Kirby continues to guide the Bulldog faithful

  2. Listening to new coach interview, the one that gave me pause was Summerall. He sounded like a Kirby, Saban clone. None of the rest concern me including pretty boy in Cajun land.

  3. Faulkner can dial up offense. I don’t expect him to be in Gainesville very long.

  4. I hate that Buster is in Gasinesville now. Hopefully it’s a short stay.

  5. Let me get this straight: a guy who gravy-trained Stet, Ladd, Bowers, and generational defenses; split with Monken (possibly because, like Coach Luke, he couldn’t hack it in Kirby’s world or simply struck while the iron was hot for a promotion); never beat Georgia despite presiding over the best offense in the country; and, as a cherry on top, called zero plays that produced a touchdown while that team your inner Munsons feared has now lost eight straight to us — is now magically the secret sauce to our demise? My inner Pulpwood Smith thinks this guy ain’t nothin’ but a member of an opposing coaching staff no different from any other.

It’s been ten years of Kirby, Dawgs – we lose to injuries (like everyone else suffers) and not performing to standard (rarely). That’s it. Bragging about how scared you are might get you extra points in the bestest fan in the universe award, but the dudes that run 4.4s and blow fools up don’t sweat a thing (other than traffic stops). There ain’t no overwhelming odds. Kirby coaches the Dawgs to never be out of it. The guys that wear the G never quit. But, yeah, be scared of the ten foot boogity man. My only concern about tomorrow’s game: I can’t bet on Taylor to score a TD (when he redeems himself) – guaranteed he’s either in front to a jugs machine or watching tape to dial in his routes while I type from my comfortable chair.

  6. I have no animosity towards Napier..(now that he’s gone from Hawgtown).
    I think he’s a pretty good guy.
I hope he thrives at JMU.

    • I know him personally and can tell you Billy is a genuine good guy, and I believe he is a good coach too. But I believe he was saddled with some unrealistic expectations and extreme duress from the bull gator boosters. My son played for his dad for four years at Murray Co. My kids were just behind Billy in school, and I got to watch him play HS ball; he was a very good QB. We went to church with them too. wWhen my son went to App State as a freshman TE, he had the opportunity to play against Billy even (Furman) during the infamous “go for two” play. All that said, Billy and his family are great folks and I wish them the absolute best in his new gig. AND Matt his younger brother has done a pretty good job at Lagrange HS…I believe they are in the semifinals this week!

  7. We have had our fun with Billy, but good on him for getting right back to work instead of sitting around feasting on his buyout. Same for James Franklin. Compare that to Jimbo Fisher who has sat on his ass collecting the TAMU buyout money for the last two seasons.

  8. Billy committed the 1st deadly sin of a college coach, he called the offense. Why you ask is that a deadly sin, well if the offense sucks you’ve got nobody to blame and fire. He could have coached at UF for at least two more years if he had somebody to blame and fire for the crappy offense.
