Before your rush and say “but it’s one player and an isolated incident”, what’s clear here is that infractions are being covered up at Miami, so who’s to know how many other incidents have occurred?
So in Miami, a citation is given for a driving incident that involves careless driving, while in Athens, Georgia, driving on a learners takes you straight to jail. It could be the local adjudication of the law, it could be that someone just has a hard-on for reporting Georgia players and their driving infractions.
Or maybe people just hate Georgia. Case in point, a nyuck-nyuck that is Masters-related:
Sigh.
That tweet is funny.
Yes, we have a law enforcement problem, especially attitude, in Athens. I have spoken to LEOs in three surrounding jurisdictions and a retired Marshall; the word toxic comes up often and the attitude is one of ridicule. I prefaced my questions with am I an idiot or part of the problem? They all agreed yes, so you know they’re being honest, lol. It’s an institutional cancer that has been going on since the 80s.
Also, going back to the 80’s, the Atlanta Media market decided to cover UGA Athletics from an adversarial position, my guess would be to chase prizes related the the Jan Kemp situation and jealousy that Grady School grads can often jump the Atlanta market starting/building their careers. Not only are negative stories celebrated or fabricated, but many wins amongst UGA’s Womens’ sports are not covered. Does anybody know who Teresa Edwards is? Does anybody know who Caryl Smith-Gilbert is? And, in the 40 years in between has any journalist in the Atlanta Market done a story about UGA championships outside of football? Doesn’t track with other markets…
Ha, I figured somebody made that joke about Henley but I don’t do twitter. Told my buddies something similar (posted in the next post here).
Please let Bain drop to my Cowboys! He’d be a perfect fit in Dallas.
