When fans say they didn’t want to be in the conference championship game, they are just using that as copium to save themselves from the pain of not playing for the crown. Add Alabama and Ole Miss fans to that list.

Bammers haven’t made a Mike Shula reference since Saban lost to UL Monroe. Watching Alabama get gashed over and over against by a running quarterback while their dual-threat quarterback looked absolutely terrible was a sight for these tired of Alabama sore eyes. Kalen DeBoer looks totally out of his element at this point. How did we lose to this bunch this year?
Let’s move on to Hogtown for a reason I never saw coming.
Lane Kiffen and Ole Miss likely faceplant themselves right out of the CFP unless some really weird stuff happens over the next 2 weeks. I didn’t see much of the game due to the Georgia game being played at the same time, but the fact that Florida held that offense to under 20 points was hard to believe and hard to watch for northern Mississippians. The Egg Bowl is back to what it’s known for … a hate-fest of 2 schools no one else thinks about until they play each other instead of a CFP qualification game.
Assuming Ole Miss doesn’t get into the back end of the CFP field, I wonder if this team of NIL transfers will have enough players to suit up in Houston or Memphis.
Let’s move on to Greater Opelika to see how the 3rd SEC upset victim is doing.
Weird stuff happens every year in Jordan-Hare. Auburn gets a big lead on Texas A&M and then blows that lead. A kicker that’s only there because Birmingham Southern closed its doors as a university ties the game with a field goal. Auburn wins the game on 2-point conversion try (the equivalent of a soccer or hockey shootout), and the Auburn crowd storms the field over beating the (checks the rankings) 15th ranked team in the country.
I guess Texas A&M really was focused on Texas all week last week.
Unpopular opinion … Something has to be done about the college overtime rule. It’s not football.
Let’s end today trip to check on the roadkill that is Indiana after being taken behind the ‘Shoe by Ohio State.
Indiana faces a team with a pulse and gets slapped back to reality by the Just for Men spokescoach and the best team money can buy. For those of you who are betting men, I hope you cleaned out the sports books who believed the Hoosiers could keep it relatively close with Ohio State.

Danny Kanell has a bad case of SEC Derangement Syndrome.
Danny Kanell got owned by Chipper Jones the other night as well. DK is so bad he makes Mullen look like a genius.
SVP has an excellent college football podcast that drops early Sunday morning. He also hates the OT rules. His fix is that the OT drives start from the 50-yard line and drop the two-point conversion mandate. That requires the teams to at least do something to move into scoring position rather than starting them in FG range. Not perfect, but better than the current system which is basically a crapshoot. I went to bed when the Barn game went to overtime. No interest in watching a game decided by the current OT rules.
Even at the 50, it’s not football. No time clock. No field position. It’s just not football to me. The NFL rule is better. Do it with a 12:00 game clock and a 25 second play clock.
Yes, using the NFL rules would be better but the opening TD and any subsequent one that doesn’t win automatically must go for 2. Try to minimize the impact of a kicker. This would not be harder on the players than these multiple OT plays.
I like the idea of starting at the 50.

Oh and I disagree about the OT rule. I think it works fine. Otherwise, we’d still have these 6-7 OT games. (G)Aggies had three shots at “real” football to win it, first in regulation, then the first two OTs. If they can’t figure it out by then, the 2-pt plays is about all they can do.
I don’t like the entire OT system. Either go back to the way it used to be with end of regulation ties or have an NFL type of OT where both teams get the ball once.
I really hate the 2-point rule at the 3rd OT.
I’m okay with ties.
Of course, I’m also okay going back to the bowl system.
After last year, I no longer care about the SEC Championship game or playing in it. When the undefeated #1 team in the nation loses that game by 3 points and gets punished by being left out of the playoff, you can’t tell me that it’s a “reward”.
I think the bye (especially for us this year) means something. Being guaranteed a quarterfinal game close to home (New Orleans or Atlanta) means something.
Last year was an anomaly for the 4 team playoff. You had 3 unbeaten conference champions. You had a 1-loss SEC and B12 champion. You had us with 1 close loss and no conference championship. The SECCG last year was a de facto quarterfinal after the other games fell the way they did, and we lost.
