The Previous Play Was Not Under Review

Screw bang-bang plays and what-not. And yes, I’m going to say there were more than just this play last weekend that got us the L. But still.

I thought I saw it with my eyes and screamed out loud “they’re not going to at least review it?”

Also color me surprised (not really) that Alabama came away from a night game in a very hostile environment with next to no penalties? I have to say I bash the ACC a lot on here, but one thing I appreciate is how they’ve been televising the review conversations during their games. Accountability, for the win.

Hell, I’ll stop there before I start sounding like a Tennessee fan.

  1. A lot to learn from those 2 plays. Besides kicking the FG after holding bama scoreless for a half, loading up with the Mack truck that wears a #2 or having the eagles tush push in the play book anyone else notice there has been zero mention of the backside DE making the tackle? The DE comes unblocked and gets Cash’s foot to trip him. Kirby talked about the missed block but Cash was going down when bama’s #2 does a 2 hand touch. Maybe Kirby is talking about our TE missing the block, but I think the DE was allowed to run free and when gunner sees a crashing DE he should have pulled the ball and ran.

    • Jon Stinchcomb broke down this play perfectly on Dawgnation Daily yesterday. He said we’ve run this play successfully at other similar points this year.

ILB blitzes the A gap. Glover gets distracted when he is supposed to take the end while Gaston at tackle is supposed to lead the play. Overton goes unblocked and makes the play. JS said after watching the film multiple times, it’s not just a first down but a touchdown if the true freshmen on the right side execute their assignments as designed.

Another learning moment for young players who are showing promise …

      • I still think the safety would’ve run Cash down before the end zone, but maybe he gets the first.

      • What are the weakest links on our offense? RG, RT and our situational RB so yeah, let’s run a critical play using all three. Meanwhile, bama uses a 6’7” 320 lb tackle on an obvious screen that works to perfection. Kirby…stand up and say “yeah, we didn’t think that situation through like we should have.” The point is not if that play and personnel have worked in the past…against cupcake U…it’s what was the right call then? Spilt milk…moving on.

  2. His knee was down before the ball passed marker, we need to stop with this Zapruder film.

  3. I didn’t comment on this post, but I’m getting an Email every time someone else does. Anybody else seeing the same thing?? Weird

  4. Every fanbase knows the SEC officials and league office are out to get them. Don’t believe me look at any 24/7 message board after a loss. Even in Saban’s last few years bama was tormented with penalties. KD’s teams have had it even worse. Bad timing for them to get their shit together on the road.

Yeah it looked like a first down. In close games you often need things to go your way. I don’t believe there is a grand conspiracy you couldn’t keep that secret. Now if I knew which team my bosses rooted for perhaps it’s human nature and job security to lean in just a little bit. It’s not like the head of the SEC officials is a GT grad. Anymore.

  5. Will “Gunner Stockton made the 1st down” become our new “Tyler Simmons was onside”?

  6. this is why grown ass men cried out of their right eye when we finally beat those motherfuckers and cried out of their left eye when we finally won the natty again.
once again my one and only bulldog goal for 2026 is to put a biblical, historical beatdown on those assholes next fall.
like find out whatever the largest margin of victory or points put up by a visitor in their shithole stadium and double it. go fucking spurrier on their ass. we need a full exorcism and colon cleanse of those gobshites.
i would also be happy with a one point win.
    just win baby.
