Serious Question: Why Does Auburn Suck?

Serious question…given the location, the hotbed of talent they can recruit from just like their counterparts in Tuscaloosa and Athens…the years of tradition and passionate fans…

Why does Auburn suck this bad? Granted, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving team, outside of Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, but looking at these couple of stats, it’s somewhat amazing that Auburn’s been this historically bad for this long.

Does anyone know what happened? Meddling big boosters? The Rise of Alabama in the 90s and 2000s? An Aztec curse?

Curious for your thoughts.

  1. The worst possible leadership, ever. The people who run that place are a disaster. Once UGA alum Pat Dye was no longer around to guide their idiot hands, they had no hope for success.

To me their biggest leadership problem has been not accepting who/what they are. Their ambition should be to be a physical football team that wins games in the trenches, but they’re always thinking they’re going to turn into some offensive juggernaut. There aren’t enough 5 star qbs and wrs out there who are going to choose Barn. Never will be.

You can find enough 4 star OL and DL a stone’s throw from campus to give people fits, establish an identity and pair that up with good rbs and serviceable qbs.

The pat dye/tuberville model works down there. Nothing else really will and they just won’t accept it.

Because they’re morons. And likely always will be.

Had Leach lived, he might be the Auburn coach. That’s how bad they are at this. Not that I’m complaining.

  2. Who cares why Auburn sux. It exists only to suck. Fuck little brother.

    • The reason we need to know is to make sure that it is never fixed.

  3. Auburn’s problem is that they are squeezed between 2 blue blood programs that despise them. Saban cut off the blue chip pipeline in their home state. Richt (and now Smart) did the same thing in Georgia. There is no stream of players who dream of playing for Auburn.

Unless Tim Cook’s Apple billions are going to save them with NIL, they really have nothing to sell to build the talent base needed to be championship competitive in this environment.

As my daughter says when she beats everyone in Mario Cart, “it sucks to suck.” It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch after the way they cheered for Nick Fairley.

    • I think this is the reason. Alabama usually got most of the top players in state, but Auburn got some. Now they get almost none. And in Georgia, they got a lot of really good players. UGA gets most of them now, but Alabama gets some, Clemson gets some, FSU gets some. Auburn, like S Carolina, still gets players from here, but way fewer top tier.

I can’t believe Auburn people still try to troll us with Soulja Boy almost 20 years later, but they will angrily tell you Junior Rosegreen didn’t cheap shot Reggie Brown, Fairley didn’t cheap shot Aaron Murray, Cam didn’t cheat, and Bo was wayyyyyyy better than Herschel.

FTMF. I know they’ll beat us again some day,n hopefully just not in my lifetime. Trash school, trash stadium, trash program, trash fans.

  4. Too much meddling from Big Money crowd. I laugh every time I see a yella wood commercial. Somebody ain’t getting their moneys worth. Just a bunch of dumbasses. FTMF’s!!!

  5. My text group always thought a strong Bama was a good thing because it weakened Auburn, LSU and Tennessee; and, Bama liked us keeping Florida and Mississippi at bay. With all the posers cleared out it would b on us to get by the SEC Officials and Bama. Tough task but ours alone.

As for Auburn, Saban & Richt just broke their hindquarters. Also, socially, kids want to go to Bama & UGA and Auburn ended up being a safety school. Just an impossible place to be. At every level Auburn has turned into an also ran. They can’t cheat anymore, maybe the one good thing about NIL.

No winning seasons in the post Covid six seasons for players world? Chef’s Kiss!

    • “They can’t cheat anymore”
You realize who you are talking about don’t you? They will read your post and say “challenge accepted!!” Even in this era, they will find a way to cheat….not that it will help. It’s in their DNA to cheat. Them not being able to cheat would be like the average human being deprived of oxygen. They have to have it to survive.

  6. When awburn has good football teams the roster has significant numbers of players from the state of Georgia. Between Richt/Kirby recruiting awburn has not been able to sustain recruiting Georgia. Saban was a factor but awburn s record during Saban’s bama tenure is better than vs Georgia in the same period.

  7. Since Pat Dye passed(2020), Auburn has been unstable as a program and has not had a winning record in football.

  8. I feel like this title should be appended with, “…let me count the ways.”

  9. Careful boys, we had Greg McGarity narcing out AJ Green and Todd Gurley, then holding a joint press conference with Mark Richt after firing him, a move he made at the behest of donors who wanted to get Kirby Smart before S Carolina did.

Suffice it to say that could have easily been Georgia, we’re just fortunate enough that the greatest talent accumulator/developer of this generation is also an alumni.
