Help Us Brent Venables, You’re Our Only Hope

Dabo is officially on the hot seat, and it seems like he doesn’t much care about it. Ever since Brent Venables left the Greater Anderson Cow College, Clemson hasn’t necessarily been a feared program.

In Venables time at Clemson, roughly ten years from 2012-2021, Clemson lost a total of 17 games. In the four seasons since he took over at the helm at Oklahoma, Clemson hasn’t necessarily lost…17 games.

It’s not so bad, though…in the four years before Venables came to Clemson, Swinney lost 22 games.

It’s amazing what Swinney can’t accomplish as a head coach in his own, and people are becoming very aware of it. Smart may have had his last chance to embarrass Dabo when Georgia played Clemson a few years ago, but the better news is Kirby doesn’t have a split like that that people can point to based on a coordinator, no matter if the fan base likes the coordinator or not.

  1. Went Dabo went to the did you play football card it was over. The media feeding frenzy of getting him fired has officially begun.

Clemson still has to answer the question who are we getting to replace Dabo after his firing will cost us about $70,000,000. Your roster is not what you expected you’re not capable of spending what it currently takes to be competitive. Fair question who can fix their mess.

    • His “in the arena” moment. IPTAY gonna have to up their membership ante. Maybe open the practice facility pool and putt-putt course to the public for a daily fee.

They will go get a DC to replace Dabo and still be irrelevant for the next decade. I’m sorry the tradition of having them on our schedule occasionally is gone but they are going to be Auburn’s ugly twin for quite a while.

  2. Swinney is a fairly rare bird among HC’s–a long tenure that began without ever serving as an OC or DC. As noted by many, he’s been totally dependent on his coordinators and the stats with/without Venables are damning. Losing to Georgia Southern could send the Dabo death-watch into overdrive. GATA Eagles!

  3. Was thinking a couple of weeks ago that CKS has two Nattys both with Dan Lanning as DC. Is Dan our Venables? Prove me wrong, Glenn! Please prove me wrong.

    • That second natty in 2022 wasn’t with Lanning. The season started with Lanning and Oregon getting taken out back by the woodshed by his daddy in a 49-3 whipping.

  4. Well, it seems I’m conflicted..
On one hand, I bitch and moan about what roster building has become..transfers, bidding wars for high school kids, player tampering, free-agents posing as college kids, etc…
and then see Dabo circling the drain because he resisted accepting those things.
I think he’s a nice guy who painted himself into a corner with some earlier declarations that he wasn’t going to go with the flow that is destroying the sport.
I admire him for his principles but he’s taking a LOT of money to win and that means being able to adjust even when you don’t like what that means. If he can’t or won’t adjust he’s doomed as a coach.
It does appear that he is a guy that benefited from some really good assistant coaches and a few generational players while competing in the All Cupcake Conference..which allowed him to win big, rest players in second half of games, thus avoiding injuries and building experience for backups.
He’s got more money than he can spend…so I bet he makes a deal and leaves if this season goes the way it seems headed.
