If there’s one person out there, whether you hate him or love him, who wouldn’t mind burning the business down on his way out, it’s probably Lane Kiffin.
Given the slings and arrows he endured as he exited Oxford, it’s hard not see how he could have some feelings about his indictment as a turncoat in modern college football. Transfers everywhere, people chasing a bag, so why not…and, oh, a loophole that allows 2022 players an extra year of eligibility to boot? Lane saw an opportunity for chaos, and jumped at the chance.
let’s pour gasoline on the fire and see what happens…because some people get a kick out of watching the fire department do their damndest to fight to extinguish something that’s impossible to put out.
Meanwhile, Lane has shifted from courtroom antics to locker room antics.
It sounds like he’s trying to channel his inner Kirby while also embracing the idea that he’s happy to kick a person when they’re down. He’s trying to make LSU a feared program again, and will use any fabricated voodoo to get there.
Gotta say, I’m impressed. Somehow in the midst of it all he’s had an expose book written about his horndog lifestyle in Tuscaloosa, tattled about tampering, abandoned a college football program as they were heading to the CFP, and all anyone can talk about is court and eligibility of pro players, whom he won’t even roster in the end.
And a 51-10 ass whipping of Clemson.
Lane decided that, instead of hating the PR machine for what it is, he’d hack it and use it to his benefit to rebrand himself as the villain of college football, a rogue badass who will now lay wate to everyone in his path, and not as Joey Freshwater anymore.

-Quit on his first team in the middle of the night.
-Fired on a tarmac after 5 games
-Lost 3 Games or LESS in a season 8 Times (once when fired after 5 games – once he quit on the team). So, I’m not sure that we should count those two which means roughly 50% of the time his teams will lose 4 games or more.
-An astounding .688 winning percentage
-Team finished in the AP top 10…Three times (and he quit on one of those teams). One team began #1 and finished unranked.
-Holds a 4-4 Bowl record. That’s right – 8 bowl games in 15 seasons. *Last year’s CFP not included since he quit and left.
But hey, He’s “elite” according to the talking heads.
Regardless of all the shut that comes with him, he can pick talent & he can coach.
Plus, the media loves him because of the fodder he provides each day

LSU blinked first. Good. The saga of the ‘22 class is not over but it is for LSU. Lane playing the us vs them card was going to happen anyway because of the stink he created. Adding real fuel to that fire was easy and I agree…intentional. On the field he still faces a tough schedule but knows how to call a flying circus offense. He’s a 10-2 guy. Always was, always will be. Dabo won’t get the bama gig. Jimmy Sexton has the Bama AD on speed dial ready to pounce on an offer. Lane will never fit in with the crazy Cajun crowd.
The greatest thing would be for Ole’ Miss to now sign those two pro football players to their roster and the SEC ignore it.
