This should be an easy one for today:
Let’s keep it centered on the NATS, and why we hate the Nerds so damned much. I have several reasons I’ve posted here before, but I can go back to 1991 and having an intolerable Chemistry teacher who wouldn’t shut the hell up about the Co-National Champions Yellow Jackets…and she was a Georgia State grad. Stuff like that just chaffed my ass, particularly for Tech fans. In all my years of encountering Tech fans, I know not one who is an actual alumni of the school who actually cares about the football team. Seriously.
While I know that’s not a requisite for being a fan, and I imagine we have several readers here who didn’t attend UGA, it’s more the privilege that the fans take from Tech being an “academic institution” and somehow making them smarter for rooting for them that gets me riled up. Like my Chem teacher. She postured as though she graduated from Tech, but did not. But wouldn’t have known that for all the talk about Tech athletes being smarter that Bulldawg athletes. Just bizarre to me.
Your thoughts? Why do you hate Tech?
My uncle took me to my first game against the nerds at their “historic” stadium, I was in 7th grade. We won 16-3, Jeff Hipp had 3 interceptions. But what I remember most was having old nerd fans throwing ice and shit at me whenever I stood up to yell our fight song. I hate them.
I really just don’t think about them when we’re beating them every year and that’s really been the rule since Dooley was named coach.
When we lose, that indifference does change. In 2001, the hate was at its peak.
I suppose what I find most annoying is that they do not have any purpose in life other than hating Georgia…and for no other reason than we beat that ass every November.
So when we’re winning that’s just pathetic. On the few occasions we aren’t, its annoying af.
Get a life, ya fuckin’ nerds.
I come by it honestly. Both of my parents were 1930s UGA grads. They got married on November 27, 1937. Forever after if you asked my dad what happened on that day, he’d say “That’s the day Bill Hartman ran the kickoff back against tech.”
Uber—obnoxious techmite behavior did the rest.
I actually don’t hate them or any of our rivals except Florida and Tennessee until game day, and despite this probably not being a popular opinion, I don’t root against them until we play them because I want them to be considered as good as possible until we shoot down their hopes and dreams. I’m a little upset Pitt took that away from us last week. I wanted that honor for us. But if I had to pick out something, it’s for sure their nerd arrogance, and the fact that they think they should still be competitive with us, and that their coach wears short sleeves in 30 degree weather like he’s Mr. tough guy.
Growing up, it was the superiority vibe they gave off. It was so obnoxious. Even now, some old timers will still try to that whole “UGA grads work for Tech grads” thing (which ain’t true at all). Nerds gonna nerd.
I’ve never worked for one. I did employ two of their grads for years. One had season tickets he always pretended football wasn’t important. Unless at the moment they were good then it was all consuming….until again it wasn’t important like usual.
My oldest brother graduated from the North Avenue Trade School and I graduated from UGA. So, there’s that. Certainly there was a time when your chemistry professor was correct. Tech players were generally smarter than Bulldog players. But those days are long gone. My brother even admits that. These days the average SAT and ACT scores at Tech and UGA are comparable. When I attended UGA in the seventies being born in the state of Georgia was enough to get admitted.
The idea that their revenue sport athletes were better students was bullshit before UGA academics raised their standards for the general student body.
In fact, when we weren’t taking prop 48 kids, it was probably reversed.
AND TO HELL WITH georgia teeech!!!!!!!….GO DAWGS!!
My four Tech relatives hate UGA more than they love Tech. Like the old Elvis and Willie Nelson song, we are always on their mind. They can’t talk about anything football for a minute without bringing UGA into it. I do appreciate that they acknowledge that the academic difference is close now. The one thing as certain as their fans suck, is that neither my wife nor I (and maybe our son) could get into UGA again today.
One annoying thing about GTU grads: sure, they’re smart, but they seem to think they’re the only smart people on earth. Many of them can’t write a simple declarative sentence. They’re awkward, hypersensitive, condescending nerds who lack a sense of humor and interpersonal skills. And the Tech adjacent fans (people with a relative who went to GTU, but no real connection) are curiously even worse. I have no criticism of non alum fans, but I find the vitriol of non-alum GTU to be hilarious.
They all like to pretend we are all stupid, they’re all millionaires, we all work for them, our players are all ignorant thugs, theirs are all EE majors, etc etc. in the last 20 years, we routinely take over their stadium, we routinely beat them for recruits, and they routinely take transfers from us. They talk like they’re superior, but their actions indicate their inferiority complex.
Will they beat us again some day? I suppose. Key is a good coach, but his mouthy, blustery, big talking persona is annoying. It’s a reflection of his mentor, lyin’ George “The Skipper” O’Leary, and the style insecure GTU Fans love. Maybe it’s even this year, but this year we are healthy, peaking, and highly motivated. We gave them a chance last year. I suspect we beat their trash D to death on Friday for 8IAR, B. FTMF.
I can’t stand them. I agree with Dan Magill … they are the enemy.
The faux superior attitude combined with a little brother complex makes me want to puke. All of that is the reason the denizens of StinkTalk shut their board off from viewers.
They are the Jan Brady of college football world … Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!
I can hear Coach Magill refer to them as “the eternal enemy” in his thick, syrupy drawl. No greater Bulldog ever lived. I hope the plans for the new tennis complex improvements include a statue of the guy who put UGA tennis on the map.
I am one of those Georgia fans that did not attend UGA. I went to CU Boulder so you can imagine how I felt my sophomore year when of all teams my Buffs had to share the title with Tech. I was raised a Bulldog as both my parents are UGA grads and have been attending Georgia games since the 70’s.
My wife and her parents are as well. Now, we have a son who is a freshman at Tech, but while he loves going to school there he hasn’t become a big Tech fan yet. Thankfully, our younger son got into UGA on Friday and will be attending next fall to balance things out.
You are spot on with the academic superiority complex for those Tech fans that didn’t attend school there. That is absolutely the most obnoxious thing about the fan base. A teacher at the school here in Perry my sons attended/attend and where my wife teaches is a “big” Tech fan and loves to make the academic jokes. Best part about it? He went to Tech briefly, but couldn’t hack it and had to drop out.
Tech is obsessed with Georgia and I hardly even think about them. When we took my son to orientation last summer you wouldn’t believe how much they mention UGA. They had signs all over campus as you drove in welcoming the new freshman, but about every 5th sign said, “THWG” and during the first session of the day they dive into the Tech traditions which mentioned UGA about 6 times. UGA lives inside their heads rent free.
The only fan more annoying than a Tech fan is a Bama fan who didn’t attend Alabama. I’ll save that rant for another day.
My daughter got into UGA too!! Congratulations!
Congrats to you as well!
Congrats. My youngest child is a freshman this year and loves it.
Thank God for 5th downs.
Colorado wouldn’t have spiked the ball of the refs had the down marker right.
I hate that they’ve lost 2 games prior to this one. It would be so much nicer to crush them if they were 11-0 coming into this game.
Unrelated, but is it “chaffed my ass” or “chapped my ass”? I’ve always used the latter. Neither one sounds like a good thing to have happening to your hindquarters.
The correct answer is both. The antidote is corn starch.
My Dawg.
If they were undefeated a loss wouldn’t take them out of the playoffs.
A win might help them.
It still matters to them.

I hate them because they are so chickenshit that they won’t let us read posts on Stingtalk. I want to hear the lametations of their women.
“Lamentations”
I didn’t even catch that! Yes! They are LAME!
StinkTalk …. FIFY, dude.
When you can’t walk the walk, there is always stinktalk…GO DAWGS!!
What women? Or are you referring to the boys on Stingtalk as “women”? If so, that would be an insult to actual women.
Good point. I doubt many of them have ever gotten a female down into their Mom’s basement where they all live.
They cain’t even score with Davis’s Mom!
When my oldest brother was at GT women were categorized in the school database as ‘non male.’ He swears this true. If not, it’s still a funny story.
I don’t know. I think “Lametations” might be the perfect description of their constant whiny discourse. Well done, dude. I’m using that one henceforth. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Joe Hamilton fumble that was not called. The jasper non fumble and subsequent safety that was not called. The godsey 8.9 sec 40 touchdown run. Richt’s kickoff mismanagement. Bobo calling a slant inside the 10 in OT after Chubb and Sony fumbled inside the 5 in the first half. Putting a GT flag over the G at halftime. Flagboys. Some Georgia fans don’t want to play tech anymore. I want Georgia to beat the trade school by 50+ every year.
Run 3 miles, Hate tech 4 times.
I love it that Theron Sapp was the Drought Breaker.
We had lost to Tech 8 straight times.
Let’s make this Friday our 8th in a row.
Kirby can take on the Drought Maker moniker with a win this weekend.
If Kirby throws the Drought on the ash heap of college football history, do we celebrate just as we did with Theron Sapp by retiring the 16 jersey?
“I really have no bias against Tech. I do not give a damn who beats them.”…..GO DAWGS!!
Should be 9, but tech dodged us in 2020. FTMF, we get them this year and we click the longest streak next year at home.
I hate them because they are the worst fanbase in America. They hate us more than they love them own team. They celebrate a UGA loss more than they celebrate a Tech win. They cheered when UGA(s), Dooley and Munson passed (which is beyond contemptable). They think that they are smarter than everyone and love to tell you about it. Tuck Fech!
Growing up in Tifton it seemed like low quality individuals that just wanted to be contrarians pulled for Tech but never seemed to go to Tech. I actually got accepted to Tech, so it ain’t no akerdimic powerhouse and when I went to visit I saw no chicks and Downtown Atlanta seemed to suck. When I would go to Athens, I could get into the Yacht Club (underage) and there was always BEAUTIFUL coeds that gave me the time of day (I think more because of the female to male ratio). The whole intellectual superiority thing always rubbed me the wrong way, too. Calculus ain’t some sort of intellectual selection hurdle and their players take their Math classes at Ga State, anyways (Joe Hamilton admitted this on 680 the Fan). Their reliance on foreign students to try and create some sort of genius utopia seems contrived, although I’ve never cared to deep dive into it factually. Then the few times they win, it’s a complete opening of the floodgates of them running their mouths, poorly, virginly and just dumb, childish stuff. Also, the AJC always giving their rectal deposit selves equal(sometimes greater) billing in coverage pissed me off. The AJC, when I used to read it: UGA could never do right and Tech could never do wrong. Also, the whole they’re a basketball powerhouse narrative is satanic garbage. Also, you rarely see a Tech Grad that fits in physically, socially or really intellectually. It seems like that viral sorority girl’s email rant was directed at them. Other than that, they’re the suckiest bunch of pimple faced Bombay sucks.
#GoDawgs
“low quality individuals that just wanted to be
contrarians” …
That’s excellent, hialtdawg 23!
Kenny Anderson and James Forrest needed multiple tries to break 700 on the SATA, yet somehow they got into tech. They do the same things everyone else does, they just don’t do them as well.
The very idea of losing to Tech is hateful to me. Younger heads do not understand the importance of this game until we blow one every now and then. I myself did not understand until they split the natty with Colorado. They are insufferable.
I think that the main reason to hate them is the fact that they are all narcissists! Just to be clear, here is a definition of the word: “a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves. Narcissistic behavior is characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. Individuals may exaggerate their achievements, feel entitled to special treatment, and be preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, and beauty. They often have fragile self-esteem, react poorly to criticism, and exploit others to achieve their goals.”
I hate them because when they occasionally beat us, they are insufferable. See 1989-1990 and 1998-2000. It’s freaking miserable.
The off season after the 2000 game was brutal.
Evergreen, still good for a smile:
Q: What do Georgia and Georgia Tech fans have in common?
A: They’re both obsessed with Georgia football.
I hate Florida, Auburn and Tennessee as obnoxious SEC rivals. I hate Clemson for being an uppity cow college that plays good football. I hate Texas for being all hat, no cattle.
But I hate tech for existing. It’s not about football since they are so pathetically irrelevant. It’s about their emotionally underdeveloped misplaced aura of faux superiority fanbase with Comic-Con traditions that have nothing to do with sport but just an imaginary fantasy world for their insecurities to have their only public airing in a cesspool of a facility that would be torn down and paved over in any other setting. Beating them is not the satisfaction of a victory well fought. Instead it’s the same feeling you get when disposing of vermin. Unpleasant experience but wholly necessary.
I couldn’t have said it any better, FPD. This is perfect.
Like everybody has said to me it’s about how consumed they are with their intelligence. I have just never cared about how smart a person is or isnt. Why would I give a damn unless it’s my doctor or I’m hiring a lawyer? The truth is most people are pretty average in that department. Somehow smart people equate intelligence to character and the two have nothing to do with each other. There are some smart people who complete assholes and shitty humans. So I personally couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the Techies and their big brains. I have a good friend who is a Tech grad and he’s a smart guy but doesn’t act like that.
I’m forty seven so we have dominated them most of my life. But I saw how obnoxious they were when Fish Fry came in and they beat us in 2008.
As an interesting tidbit, Chan Gaily is from my home county. My Uncle Bud whipped his ass in high school over a girl.
Tuck Fech.
I still remember the humilation of walking out of Sanford stadium Saturday November 25, 2000. Make no mistake Tech had come to our house and kicked our asses. The smugness of their fans acting like they had a great team and coach when it had more to do with Georgia’s inadequacies. 1990 really sucked, but 3 staight really was a steaming pile of shit.
I wasn’t sure about that new guy Mark Richt, but damn if he didn’t right the ship and get us sailing in the new direction the following November, 24.
Why do a hate Tech. The general clueless arogance, and it is arogance, as they act like they have some great program with NOTHING and I mean NOTHING to back it up.
I’m glad they have Brent Key as their head coach because it gave me a reason to restoke the hate. Otherwise, it had become indifference as they had become not much more than an FCS team prettending to belong in the FBS.
In conclusion: FTMFs to the top of FU mountain!
I remember that game all too well. During the pregame warmup I turned to my buddy and said look at their drills then look at us. They were doing everything with military precision total focus on the outcome. We look at our guys in the end zone just jumping around laughing joking not a care in the world. The result was inevitable and something that could never be allowed to happen again.
That was the day I knew Donnan had to go. I appreciated everything he had done to greatly improve Georgia football. Except he didn’t understand or cared enough to make sure crushing tech was job requirement number 1.
Jasper Sanks was down.
A couple of guys I knew in high school were big Tech fans. They weren’t cool. After Tech beat UGA in 1984, they were all giggly and insufferable – which was annoying enough – but then they started boasting about how they slashed the tires on some cars with UGA stickers on them after the game. I didn’t like Tech before then – their fans always seemed very sour – but that really put me off the Trade School. (BTW, one of those two did go to Tech for college; the other one applied but didn’t get it.)
My freshman year in 1986, we lost to Tech in Sanford.
It sucked.
That is all I need to know. I do not care for them.
How do I hate them?
Let me count the ways.
I hate them because 90 percent of them don’t know a field goal from a home run..and have no self awareness of their ignorance of football.
I hate them because on the rare occasion that they are gifted a win over UGA by the officials, they show up in church adorned with their baby crap colored garb all over them and high-five each other during the services.
I hate them because they don’t realize it when they’ve been repeatedly humbled and crushed.
I hate them because they reek of underarm odor, Marta bus exhaust fumes, bidis, and Varsity onion rings.
I hate them because they are obsessed with UGA..as someone else mentioned they celebrate a UGA loss more than a NATS win.
I hate them because they cannot hide their jealousy of the beautiful campus, beautiful women, beautiful stadium, exciting and safe atmosphere and superior football program in Athens, Ga.
I hate them because they never say a word when they’ve had their ass handed them on the football field..but gloat as though they won a natty when they occasionally win.
I hate them because Pepper Rogers played 13 men on the field to stop a UGA winning TD and got away with it.
I hate them because of Reggie Ball (an enigma because I do somehow
miss Reggie).
I hate them because I hate the AJC and Furman Bisher….(the friend of my enemy is my enemy.)
Finally, I hate them because Lewis Grizzard, the greatest philosopher in the history of sports, taught me to hate them.
Some quotes from Lewis…
“I don’t hate Tech. I have a friend who hates them”
“Tech was probably the finest trade school on North Avenue before DeVry showed up.”
Was there ever a DeVry Tech on North Avenue? Do we care?
“I tried to get into Tech, but they declined my application. When I asked why they said I did not have enough pimples.”
“I really have no bias against Tech. I do not give a damn who beats them.”
Saturday, Georgia will beat them.
Go You Hairy Dawgs! Wreck Tech!
..and I know COFH is on Friday but Saturday was part of the quotes before a past game.
Don’t forget the time we beat them (one of the few times I went to see the game in the ATL) and they put on their scoreboard “Have fun in Shreveport” with palm trees and hula girls because I think they were going to the Hula Bowl. It seemed an odd flex after a loss
The “Sour Grapes” scoreboard message.
When they lose, they take the score down the second the clock strikes zero.
Larry Munson would complain about the scoreboard going immediately dark after our wins on the Flats. He had a photographer at the ready to snap a quick pic when the scoreboard hit 00:00, and he told me he had a collection of those framed pictures in his office.
I remember this game and the scoreboard crap that they pulled. They ARE the WORST fans as they cannot win or lose with any dignity! I searched and found this tidbit on that 1991 game. I didn’t realize that we broke their home winning streak then…..
“For the first time in three years, the Bulldogs defeated Georgia Tech 18-15, snapping the Yellow Jackets’ 17-game home winning streak. As the game ended, a bitter, Georgia Tech scoreboard operator, displayed the message, “Anything like this in Shreveport?” Next to the taunt danced an electronic hula girl; the Yellow Jackets had already accepted an Aloha Bowl invitation to play Stanford. “To Hell With Georgia,” promptly followed the scoreboard’s initial ridicule.”
Tech sucks. FTMFs!
One more – my dad said as soon as tech beats Georgia the nerds crawl out from their holes and run their mouths. All of a sudden there are lots of tech “fans”. Then they go back in their holes for 7 + years as Georgia dominates again. He was right.
Like termites, techmites are only seen on rare occasions when conditions favor their coming out of the ground.
So…they aren’t really yellow jackets, but rather cicadas?
https://youtu.be/IqF_A6bsyEw?si=qFHUTIscya6KYpl5
LOL
Oh…where to begin…
all it takes is experiencing a loss to those sons-a-bitches and you will know what true hate feels like.
there is no safe harbor for the nerds.
I never had strong feelings about them. Then they celebrated when Aaron Murray tore up his knee. Then they celebrated when Munson died. Then they celebrated when Coach Dooley died. Now I equate them with something I would wipe off the bottom of my shoe. FTMF.
Very small people.
Don’t forget how they celebrated the death of UGA VII with a cartoon of the ramblin’ wreck running over the graves of each UGA and titled it “speed bumps”.
They seriously go too far in their hatred of all things UGA.
Did y’all know that Bear Bryant is buried in the North end zone at the CMR (aka GT) football field?
Story is that his family was so sick of his obsession with college football that they wanted his remains to be as far away from it as possible.
To all them sumbitches who think the trade school is an “academic institution.”
I have two words, two simple words……..
Sammy Drummer.
Google him.
phuq’em!!!!
I’m out of state dawg, always have been. Least of my concerns have been hatred on Tech. As kids growing up on Tobacco Road, we had many folks that had season tickets to NCSU, UNC, Duke, and Wake. The usual response to “Hey do you want to go to the game this weekend? We’re playing GaTech” was “Not really, I’m busy” as GATech and Maryland at the time were viewed as the weird teams that were boring to go see.
Fast forward to about ten years ago during hate week. I live in Denver, working in an office downtown, power G on my car. Get to work late, have to park in a different area of the underground parking, and squeeze my car into a space against the wall on one side. Come out to go home, and another car has gone well across the parking space line effectively making it so that I can’t get in my car, unless thru the tailgate hatchback. Too damn old to crawl across three rows of seats to get to the drivers seat, but nothing else to do. Pull car out of the space, realize that there is a GT sticker on the other car that hemmed me in. I get super pissed, let all of the air out of the from right tire of the GT car, drive home laughing.
Now, I had a young engineer working for me at the time from Tech, so I’m sure it was his car. Walk into his office the next morning, and ask him if he had any issues getting home last night. He says no, ask him if he drives a Subaru, he says no I drive a Tacoma.
So, some random Tech fan in Denver thought this was a good prank during hate week, but instead had to call AAA to fill his tire so he could go home at the end of the day. This basically sums up my opinion of Tech, and it’s hard to muster much hate, its more like amusement.
My Tech hate has mellowed a little bit since my brother the Tech grad died a few years ago. And speaking of academics I can assure he was no scholar, and had to apply 3 times before he was admitted. Still, he graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering, so it can’t academically superior even back in the day.
He probably died from a broken heart from all the losses in recent years. And there are some good things about Tech which I want to offer in his honor. For example, it is nice the way that they sell their football tickets to us when we have to go to Atlanta to beat them at Mark Richt field. This year, they even rented a bigger stadium for us to play in! I’m sure there is something else, but I can’t think of it at the moment.
My neighbor told me his daughter got into tech. I asked him if she had the other girl in her freshman class yet🤪
I worked at Tech after I earned my doctorate and the joint sucked!
Just read this on a Tech blog….THIS is enough of a reason to hate them: “Tech can go 1-12 in a season, and if the 1 win is against uga, the season is a success, especially if we spoil something for the playoffs. Anything else is a bonus.”
