This team has taught me a lot this year about not getting too up or down over a bad play or bad series or just plain getting your ass kicked for a while. They never give in. Bad plays for Gunner are like water off a ducks back apparently. Overall, the defense did their job. We lost our starting nose tackle, two DB’S and held them. Sure hope Jones’s injury was minor, but he was in a lot of pain. Broke arm or wrist IMO. Sucks because he was playing better and better. Secondary started terrible but closed it out somehow. Ellis almost finished with a pick 6. He will be elite soon.
Ellis has been pretty damn good as the season has gone on especially in man coverage. Get well soon, Demelo.

Often (pleading guilty here myself) we conflate poor execution and poor play calling. Every play will work if executed well by the offense.
But still…that WR screen…
Part of being a successful OC is knowing what plays your offense can or cannot execute well.
But there were some really good calls in that second half and we always “hurrah” the players and overlook the OC..
but a bad play we blame both.
Sometimes you just face a good defense that just won’t let your offense run certain plays successfully.

When Mike had the center snap it too early and those two drive killing holding penalties that Mike had the OL commit and then Mike had Gunner miss 4 when he had a big gainer on the first play of a series and Mike told 5 to let the ball bounce off his hands, I mean that was just awful coachin’ right thar!

The kneel down was for the Florida assistant coaches that were pals of his, he did not want to rub their noses in it. The Gator fans, if they had any sense would be grateful. I am 78 and have never bet on the Dawgs or against them, just does pay.
