Say Bye

Extra conference game and only one bye week. Hmm.

Starts with Arkansas and ends with South Carolina. Seems pretty tight and pretty substantial.

What’s your thoughts?

  1. Why in the hell do we play Bama and Aw-Barn back to back, but Aw-Barn can’t play Bama and the Dawgs back to back? I call bullshit.

    • Because Greg McGarity enjoys bending over and getting a train run on him.

    • OTOH, it could be a Josh/Kirby flex.
Auburn: WAAAAHHH, we don’t wanna play Georgia and Bama back to back!
Kirby: Watch and learn, Plainsmen. Watch. And. Learn.

    • Exactly. Talk about hypocrisy the SEC moved the date of the DSOR to Oct to appease Auburn. They gave them an extra home game. Now we play them after we play Bama.

    • To be fair to Auburn, having to play Georgia is a much more daunting task than having to play Auburn.

  2. Gonna have to start spacing out the cupcakes rather than playing both early. If we know the bye will always be at the end of October, when is the best time for the second one? First week of October? After Florida? Before Tech?

    • The B1G’s heads collectively exploded when they realized that SEC teams play a cupcake late in the season while they schedule theirs at the beginning. Once again, this is another example of Sankey bending over backwards to appease them. So while we’re playing Ole Miss, Mizzu and SCAR in games 9-11, tOSU will be playing Rutgers, Maryland, and Northwestern. I think that’s equal.

      • I have several Ohio State people in my life. Wife of couple friends of ours is the daughter of one of the biggest OSU boosters and former board of trustees member. My brother-in-law lives in Ohio with a woman whose family are all massive Ohio State fans. The collective delusion about the “difficulty of the B1G” always astounds me. Even after the selection of five SEC teams in the field my brother-in-law was chirping about how impressive the B1G was. Nauseating.

  3. Why are we playing Alabama and Ole Miss for the 3rd year in a row but not playing A & M for the 14th out of the 15 years it will have been in the SEC? And not playing LSU in the regular season since 2018? I thought the plan was to play each SEC opponent at least once over a 2 season period.

  4. Fuck the Barn. They get another off week before playing us when we go to Tuscaloosa. Make it 10 in a row over those crybabies

    • Has anyone looked to see how many of our opponents get a bye before playing us next year? Didn’t Bama, Texa$ and Ole Miss all get byes this year?

      • It was Bama, Auburn, Florida, and Texas with a bye before playing us. Ole miss kinda weasels a bye before playing us by having a bye, then a cupcake, then us.

  5. Auburn and Florida have off weeks before playing us. I’m sure glad everyone else we play wasn’t lining up to get a bye the week before.

IIRC, Auburn hasn’t won in Athens since Tuberville was on the sidelines. I’m guessing that’s a streak that will stay alive this year.

With the new schedule, I’m guessing the bye weeks are going to be squeezed into the middle of the season. That way no one gets too many opponents coming off a bye.

Maybe Auburn will be the Homecoming game again this year.

  6. Just checked the forecast, and Columbia in November is down to “hotter than the surface of Mercury”, which is better than September’s “hotter than the face of the sun”….

    • That place is such a shit hole. Gonna be interesting getting them in November when they have realized that no, this is yet again not the year of the gamecock vs September when they still think they are going to win a national title.

  7. Most have been reporting for awhile that the Tech game was moving back to Saturday, but kind of enjoyed having something to do on Friday (guess I’ll just go to work next year….) and being able to watch some of the other rivalry games!

    • It’s nice having the extra day before the SECCG…if that’s still a thing next year…

  8. Texas dodges us and Bama, go figure. Sankey wants them to win the SEC so bad he can’t stand it. Sankey and Texas can both get bent.

    • They can be next year’s A&M except someone will have to crush them in the SECCG.

  9. I like how this schedule shakes out. Ole Miss won’t be the same after Lane leaves and depletes their roster, Pavia is gone from Vandy and they won’t be near as dangerous, Oklahoma at home doesn’t scare me, Auburn and Florida breaking in new coaches, Missouri at home. The only true bump in the road is at Tuscaloosa and we just took their manhood. Hell, Bama may have a new coach if DeBoer splits for Michigan. I see us 12-0 playing Arch and the Longhorns for the SEC Championship.

    • Won’t Vandy have the 5-star QB that they just flipped from us? I guess Kirby is looking forward to showing him just how bad of a decision he made.

      • I have given that 5* QB you refer to the nickname ‘The Admiral’. October 3rd in Athens isn’t going to be a good experience for him. He’s gonna catch hell from the fans the entire time. Not to mention what our defense is gonna do to him. When a recruit flips from us @ at the 11th hour, especially a QB, he’s forevermore on my shit list. My prediction for ‘The Admiral’ on October 3rd is MUCHO PAIN. 🤕

    • Kirby hurt his fee-fees and embarrassed him at the Championship ceremony last year and he’s trying his damndest to stick it to Kirb’s. Screw Sankey.

  10. We went ~55-60 years without an annual game with Bama. I’m fine doing it again.

At leasst Auburn is moving towardd their traditional date on the schedule. Trade off is we won’t be in the baking hot Chicken Coop in September with the trip to South Carolina just before the Nerds.

    • My other thought is, not a fan of having all of the cupcakes before the meal. Suppose, chicken fingers and honey mustard are UGA’s after meal cupcakes.

  11. Looks like Texas vs Tx A&M is the only Friday game. The Egg Bowl is listed for Saturday. That is crap. The Egg Bowl should be Thanksgiving or Friday.

  12. Sankey really doesn’t like Kirby & how he always calls out his cowardice. Expect more of this until one of them leaves.

    • Well since the SEC is headquartered in Birmingham and the officials all live in Bama, it seems only right that the SEC carry Bama’s water. After all, I wouldn’t like getting all the death threats after UGA beats Bama. FTMF.

  13. Why not move the start of the season back 1 week so that we CAN have another BYE Week?

    • I don’t think WE are scheduling any conference games; it’s the SEC office that does conference scheduling, and that probably has something to do with why our cupcakes are front loaded.

  14. Auburn has their BYE week before GA… The only team that does other than FLA, which is a wash with ours.
