Pate Baits

Well, well, well. Another day, another pundit looking to drive up engagement.

Florida is 9th. Yes, that Florida.

Looks like we’re going 7-5, tops this year. If team success was based on hype and hypotheticals alone, then I can’t understand why Texas and Florida aren’t tied for first.

I think Kirby has to be loving the offseason press this year.

  1. Not sure if you have watched the segment, but he also says Georgia is a National Championship contender. He also stated he likely has Clemson higher than most and Georgia lower than most, but this is just a post spring list. Said if Georgia gets the running game back to where it normally is then UGA is in the top five.

  2. And the one time the top two programs met (during that time) was an all time classic.

  3. I am not sure that anyone knows exactly who or what the 2025 Georgia squad will be. There are a lot of unknowns on this roster, and unknowns at huge positions. Do we really have any idea who Gunnar Stockton is as a QB? How about Drew Bobo as a full time starter on the O-line? Do we have a top end RB? Will the WRs the be able to, you know, actually catch the ball? The entire DL is a question. How about the DBs? I think it is fair to question the Dawgs this season. Is 7-5 a possibility? I would say it is not impossible. Somewhere between 10-2 and 8-4 feels about right for this group.

    • According to Rusty Mansell, Bobo is a really good center and that isn’t one of our question marks. Hopefully, he is right.

    • Frazier can be a top end RB and Stockton is Fromm 2.0 with legs. The WR room has an abundance of talent – can Coley coax it out of them? The entire offense comes down to one question – whether the OL can get its head out of its ass, which is up to Searles. The DL and DBs are only a question because we didn’t have the blowouts to get more reps for the 2nd/3rd stringers. But I sleep well with Kirby/Schuman leading the D.

I’m normally a Munson, but we are still top 5, if not top 3 in teamwide talent, so 10-2 is still the floor until proven otherwise. Too much talent to go 8-4, but given the schedule, I guess you could argue 9-3 except that we went 10-2 with games that are now home games with a bunch of opponents starting their own new QBs.

  4. May is a great month to focus on anything other than CFB. It’s just look at me click bait.

As for this season I’m just thankful we have a great home schedule finally. Hopefully we get to enjoy it.

  5. Considering the horrible injury luck and the toughest schedule I’ve ever seen Dawgs endure, 2024 could have easily been an 8-4, 7-5 type deal in lesser coaching hands. Its fair to state that much of 2025 Dawgs are a work in progress. Its no great deduction to assume our defense will have to hold the line while a young offense develops. Its a year Bobo and Searles have a golden opportunity to shut down the low hum of discontent that continues unabated. As all have noted, Kirby thrives on doubt and disrespect. I don’t know what our record will be but I expect they’ll battle the hell out of everybody, per usual.
