Well, well. I guess time off for family wasn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, was it?
His Vanderbilt son, Whit, was listed as a sophomore, so maybe he’s portaling to Texas, too. Some food for thought, though, before we rush to judgment that this will be the secret sauce to get Texas past Georgia.
Yeah, I don’t think defense was the problem for Texas, to be honest. Maybe Will can call Bobo to help develop Archduke up a little bit.
I wish Muscamp well except when we play Texas. After 5 years, time to get back in the game. Mo opening at UGA
Rusty Mansell reported Will had been living in Columbia and Nashville for a year or so. Nashville is understandable, Columbia is odd. All the “got the SAE boys back together” talk seems inaccurate now. Between Will and Matt Luke I’m thinking coaching for Kirby ain’t for everybody.
Those Vanderbilt tuition bills aren’t gonna pay themselves!
With 20 plus million in buyout money from Florida & South Carolina plus DC money from Auburn, he should be able to pay the bills
Just curious, if boom ain’t out to prove a point…GO DAWGS!!
Sorry JP, I just sent an email to the blog about nothing about BOOM. Should have kept scrolling down. Wondering if the Kirb and Boom had a falling out somewhere down the line. After all Kirby was hired by Boom in his first college stint. Maybe being bossed around by someone you were over previous didn’t go so well. Or two bulls butting heads.
This town ain’t big enough for both of us.
You make me sad to quote King Arthur from Monty Python.
Never thought Boom was ready to retire. It’s a real shame there wasn’t room for him in Athens. I’m sure one day we’ll know the rest of the story. I had hoped when Schumann moved on Boom would come home. When the contract amount comes out I’m guessing there plenty of zeros with full control of defense.
Personally I believe he’s as good a DC as any team could get. With Texas money I expect nothing but a mean top tier defense. Outstanding hire for Sark. Given his past history there no doubt their fans step up to a new level of obnoxiousness. They are so easy to hate and they’ve won nothing.
I wish agent Muschamp nothing but the best unless he’s across the field from Georgia. There’s still a lot of great memories of him with the Texas fanbase. I could see an opportunity in his future for another HC opportunity there. Boom could easily become more popular with the fans than Sark. Especially if defense becomes how they win.
Well said
Guys…Will was there in 2008-2010 with HC in waiting status. Texas just bought an insurance policy and Will got another promise. This ain’t about UGA or Kirby, this is about a near guarantee he lands one of only 2 or 3 HC jobs he’d ever consider and one is currently occupied by Kirby. I’m guessing Jimmy Sexton shopped him a little and got the feedback that Boom needs to be on the sidelines and show a little something first. I think he’s a really good DC but lacks the CEO traits for HC that is now a bigger requirement. Good luck Boom, but we’ve already moved on.
Boom will be a HC before we ever see him across the field on a Tejas sideline (and that includes ATL next December, if the SECCG still exists). Meechigan is still a bit too dirty to jump in, so maybe he’s getting in shape for ND when Marcus heads to the NFL, or SoCal if Lincoln heads back east.
Boom will not be the head guy at Texas. He’s playing the long game. This is how he ends up as head coach at Alabama and does to them what he did to Florida. Agent Muschamp is on the job.
Agent Muschamp activated again?
May Agent Muschamp prove to be as effective for the Bovines as he was for the gators and chickens. A DGD even when he was on the other sideline.
