Spring Kirby is much more fun to listen to than Fall Kirby. I know some of you really don’t like Pate (I have my problems with him, too), but this is a pretty good discussion across a number of topics.
Many of you have probably watched or listened to this, but if you haven’t, it’s worth your time especially if you’re on a boring work phone call.
Refugees, discuss.
I haven’t watched the entire thing yet, but sounds like Kirby would like a “season champion” (so would I) but we’re stuck with the “tournament champion” and so he wants a good opportunity to make it each year.
Me? I just miss the sport I grew up loving.
I’m disappointed Kirby doesn’t defend traditional rivalries as a feature of the regular season that needs to be protected.
The Senator was prescient on the playoff. He said consistently it would never stay at 4 and the inevitable slide of the importance of the regular season and conference championships would be the casualties.
I thought ESPN was really enjoyable when it first came on the air. Now looking back xx years, they have screwed up more than they have created, expanding playoffs, conference expansions, and SEC football. I know they are not solely responsible but he who has the money makes the rules.
Rant…this snippet is not journalism nor interview. Josh, I don’t care what you think and respond as if you’re “in the arena”. I want to listen to insightful questions and hear Kirby probed deeper on his thoughts. Not sure I know where this exists anywhere anymore in the 4th estate.
I only put this up to listen to Kirby. He does share things in these spring interviews that he would never go into at Media Days or in a normal presser.
I really liked Kirby’s thoughts on the play where Chambliss went full sandlot ball.
Josh is a goofwad, but I’d rather have his version of the playoff than Kirby’s.
Never thought I’d stop caring about college football, but here we are. The Senator was never more right than when he said the sport is regional, not national. Well, it’s become national far more than regional. The latest evidence: Bama’s AD calling for the elimination of the SEC title game. Screw that. I’ll still watch the Dawgs when they’re playing real rivals, but beyond that, I’m out.
