One below expectation season … how about explain 2023? By the way, there’s plenty of blame both controllable and circumstantial to go around for the 2024 offense.
My point is that when your desire to be right makes you decide not to support the program in whatever way you do, you have a fundamental problem in priority.

I’ve read the rationalizations about injuries or matriculation. Those excuses don’t give me confidence we’ll bounce back.

I should have made my point differently. A guy posting on a message board that he ended his contribution to the CCC to protest Mike Bobo and Stacy Searles wants to be right more than he wants to support the program. That’s his prerogative, and it’s ok for the Message Board Geniuses X account to call it out.
I had no idea if you were a contributor or not and don’t care.
If winning the SEC and making the CFP (which we would have done in the former 4 team format as well) is trending in the wrong direction, then maybe, just maybe, we’re turning into Alabama fans.

Pretty wild, seeing that pretty much all the highlights between 1993 and 2000 were in significant part due at least in part to … Mike Bobo (with a dash of Hines Ward thrown in)!

While I don’t agree with this particular guy and his “pulling out” I understand where he is. Let me explain. It’s a long read so bear with me or opt out.
The money grab by UGA is real and the “Tipping Point” is nearing for many. I use my own personal friends, the bulletin boards, “Full Ride” on Sirius and several other sources.
Here are my own experiences(This is Fluid because I have actually been communicating with Josh Brooks). It really started with 2 years ago. Seat licensing (AKA Donations) hit Gymnastics and Re-seating hit Basketball. Then we get the all new Hartman Fund Requirements last August including Parking Fee changes, Seat licensing changes and Ticket Price increases. Then they choose to Re-seat baseball and increase the Seat licensing for that.
Needless to say Basketball Season Ticket Holders that have endured the misery and supported the team for over 15 years got screwed out of their seats for the money grab. The same happened for baseball. Include in that, the University decided to not include my Football Seat License Fee given in December in my total points which relegated me to Tier 2 on re-seating(I’ve been told only that they couldn’t credit me until February, though they were glad to deposit that money in their account) which cost me enough appointment spots to put me in much poorer seating than I have had while supporting the ups and downs of baseball for 20 years. That really stung!
Then I open the football application to a “New and Ingenious” money grab. Each of our season tickets have a $25 “Fee” added. (That amounts to about $1.5 million for ole UGA). Then they add a $100 parking fee (That’s in addition to the increased requirement on seat licensing for parking). Then to rub it in further they add another $4 fee to that. All this while they hoard the gazillions in TV money. So I’m at my tipping point with the “Second Phase” coming in 2 years.
AD Brooks first response was “We are in the lower tier of ticket pricing compared to …………ETC.. My response was every school can use this tactic to raise prices and I don’t give a flip what others are paying. Their fans are also complaining significantly. He asked for me to arrange a call/meeting; he doesn’t like to exchange endless E-mails. When we can schedule that I will discuss more, but my biggest gripe in the big picture is the Universities greed and unwillingness to negotiate with the players for a collective bargaining agreement to share the hoarded millions in TV money.
So there we are. I know this was a long diatribe, but I think I understand this person’s angst. With the money grab we are seeing I fully expect that anything less than championships will result in many of these type threats. In other words you squeeze us until we bleed we have a right to squeeze back.

You make good points about college football in general, but the question was more about cutting your payments because of Bobo. The market for OCs in major college football is in the $1.5 million ballpark. If not Bobo, who? Who is available that would also be better?
Remember , I said i didn’t agree with him. I was just looking at the possible reasoning of it and the fact that the noise is getting louder regarding the money grab.

Elberta, I don’t think the genius here is protesting the money grab. If his stance on Bobo and Searles was so important, he should show some guts and not make his Hartman contributions and give up his season tickets … if he has them.
Damn. We have had the worst basketball program in the conference for the last 45 years and they screw over the loyal fans who rode that out at the first sign of success. That is some serious bullshit.
The only way to change this trajectory is for people to vote with their wallets. Some are dunking on the poster shown above, but what he is doing, unfortunately, is the only way to be heard and nudge the change you want in this money-obsessed framework.
It is getting tougher and tougher to write the check every year…. I have mentioned this before, I am in a professional business and deal with lots of other similarly situated and adjacent professionals, and very few my age and almost none younger, all of whom went to Georgia and are big fans, have season tickets. 20/30/40 years ago, these would have been the ideal/for sure season ticket holders. I am not sure who is buying them all, but it continues to defy gravity for now!
I read a post on Twix sometime in the last year that poked fun at the fact that the fans, not the school, hold the responsibility for paying the players and building the facilities all while the school collects the revenues from ticket sales, advertising, and TV contracts. Jerry Jones and all the other NFL owners just tip their cap and wish they could have thought of that idea. I know that the model is changing but these transitional years have been a wild ride

Excellent points across the board. While I’ve never been a big financial booster (I’ve always lived too far away to make season tickets worthwhile), I have several friends like you that have contributed for years (40-50). One of them was going to give me his Texas tickets last season, only he didn’t get them. He said it was the first time he’d ever been shut out of getting any ticket. My other friend, who travels to every Dawg sporting event, said the same thing. With college sports turning into professional sports, we’re getting all the related baggage of corporations coming and buying up seat licenses and prime tickets so they can schmooz with their customers. It’s bullshit.
For the past decade+, home teams started raising prices on visiting fans, visiting fans stopped paying inflated prices for crappy seats, home teams used it as an excuse to reduce the visitor’s allotment, rinse, repeat, cycle…. That is certainly part (but not all) of it!
We didn’t raise prices on visiting fans. We matched the ticket price that school charged for our visitor allotment.
Yeah, he was talking about us being the visitors in the OP. We definitely haven’t been the “aggressors” here, and have left more visitor seats in the lower level than most of our opponents have done for us….
I’ll have to agree. Been getting season tickets for almost 30 years and will probably give them up in the next 2. I may take the stance of what the Senator said once. Pick 2 or 3 games you really would like to see and purchase from a 3rd party broker. Doing it that way would save a lot of money in donations and hotel rooms in which I usually stay 2 nights.
What a silly, unproductive thing to waste your time on. Kirby is not only the best coach in the country, he’s the best UGA has EVER HAD. He is three steps ahead on everything. If he believes Bobo is the answer, then so do I.
If you know football… or even if you don’t, but you can use your eyes, you can see that the plays called weren’t the problems in 2023. OL was bad: many injuries across the board and guys playing at 70% trying to gut through it. TEs weren’t a factor because the OL wasn’t holding up. Running game was lacking, but, again, injuries across the board and inconsistent OL play. When Carson had time and hit an open WR, it was as likely to be dropped as caught.
It is amazing that a team that was this hobbled on offense won the SEC title and 10 games with an absolutely brutal schedule. They had the fifth best scoring offense in the conference, and a defense that did not put them in a lot of short fields. I don’t know what more you could want from the offensive coaches. Searles can’t magically heal the OL, and he can’t conjure people that Matt Luke didn’t recruit. Bobo can’t make the WRs catch, and he can’t make the QB see every open WR. Coaches put their guys in position to succeed, and then you rely on them to execute. Monken had the Ravens outgain the Bills by 143 yards, and they lost because they turned it over a bunch. The coaching was excellent, the execution was trash. It doesn’t mean Monken failed. And the same is true for Bobo. Give ’em a break and enjoy the ride. Or find a new hobby.

Random fans know what’s best better than Kirby. And really, what has CKS done for us lately? Two years since our last national championship! Bobo and Searles are the only two problems to fix, everything else is hunky-dory.
Honestly every one of these so called fans should take their money and GTFO. As to those complaining about all the increased costs and treatment of loyal paying fans, this is a very legitimate gripe and your ire should be directed at Josh Brooks (although the decisions are not his). But this has NOTHING to do with Kirby and his staff. It’s a new world of professional sports entertainment. Stop comparing it to our old traditional college football experience. That’s dead and gone, not coming back. For many it is probably time to leave. They’ve already accounted for that in their financial pro formas. Just waiting for you to leave and be replaced by stadium renovations that increase expensive luxury seating and reduced low margin bleachers.

I really have never understood the hate or BDS thing. I get he’s not Todd Monken. He also didn’t have the same generational players Monken did to work with. I’ll always believe if last season Bobo had the same players Monken had healthy Georgia wins the NC. We were so close with nowhere near the offensive talent.

I love the folks that stated Kirby is the man, “except when they disagree with him” crowd, that is called a bandwagon fan, so in the words of CKS FTMFs. Like some other, I am a 1985 damn proud UGA grad, Hartman fund contributor and season ticket holder. I sat in Ben Hill Griffin stadium when the handbags had us down and were still swinging & saw the obc put 50+ on us the next year, so being on the mountain top is all fine and dandy but getting there from the bottom of the valley makes is even more sweet.
The reality of it is we are not going to win every game from here to eternity, some folks don’t grasp that concept and only look to point fingers on Monday morning to satisfy their toilet tissue thin ego on their own genius. Have at it, I don’t have time for that shit. I am not sure how some have missed Kirby’s message about being all in, with the burn the boat mentality of the first NC season . You are either 100% in or you are on the other side, blame and excuses are for losers, that take a will, discipline and heart of a champion to continue forward, regardless of the scoreboard results. You have to have real guts to compete and risk not winning, that is what makes the heart of a champion and that is what the University of Georgia represents to me. Coach’s design & call plays with the expectation of execution, sometimes it works, sometimes the players make a remarkable play to overcome a lack of execution at one point or another and sometimes the execution breakdown cannot be overcome. All that happens 11 players at a time. And yes, the other side has 11 folks trying to prevent that from happening.
