”I Haven’t Done Nothing Yet”

This story on Georgia’s newest OL recruit is a breath of fresh air, particularly with his take on NIL. He’s slated to see playing time right away, and looks up to Van Pran-Granger as someone to emulate when he arrives on campus. Those are some big shoes to fill, but accentuates the Georgia standard for o-line play and development, particularly from a kid who says this:

He also had his share of NIL proposals to consider. There’s a growing trend right now in that space for some schools to offer a lot of financial incentive up front. Especially for the first season.

He has a different way of looking at it.

“It is great and all and I guess I would of course love it,” Smith said. “It is money and all. But I guess I just feel like personally that a kid this age shouldn’t have this much money handed to them. Like I haven’t even got to campus yet. I haven’t done nothing yet.”

“I didn’t work for it.”

That’s gotta be music to Kirby’s ears. Looks like a DGD in the making.

  1. Talkin’ ’bout Dawg porn?! Don’tcha just luv it when they talk dirty like that?!

  2. The kid is 17 or 18 years old. When I was that age, I cannot say in all honesty that I would fill the same way about money. I came from a great family, and I never wanted for anything, but stick $100 thousand in my face as a 17-year-old and let’s just say I have a lot of respect for this young man.

  3. “I haven’t done nothing yet” sounds like a man with something to prove. Looking forward to seeing it.
