Rumors are swirling around the idea that Billy Napier may be fired by this weekend. Aside from the subpar results on the fields and his inability to develop “his” quarterback, why would Florida suddenly need to get moving on Billy? Especially before the WLOCP?
Let me get this straight…so long as Georgia remains a Top 10 team, Florida will go and hire a guy who can’t beat Top 10 teams?
I wonder sometimes if Agent Muschamp didn’t completely destroy the infrastructure of Florida football during his time in Gainesville.

I guess my thought on this is that Franklin would be better than Dopey Dan and is a clear upgrade over Napier. Kiffin ain’t going to Hogtown where the expectations are more similar to places where he has flamed out in the past (cough, cough … USC … cough, cough). Franklin is willing to throw elbows in recruiting whereas Kiffin is fine with being the Portal King. He’s a better coach than Cristobal and Norvell.
Napier isn’t on his farewell tour because he can’t beat top 10 teams. He’s on his farewell tour because of losing to teams like South Florida and hasn’t even been competitive in many games against top 10 teams.
James Franklin wouldn’t be a terrible choice for the Handbags.
I also don’t think Franklin in Hogtown would have Kirby squirming in Athens.
State hasn’t had the friendliest schedule so far, second road trip could play into FU’s favor and maybe saving that candy ass for another week or so, mine Red n Black soul would like to have the FU hc dismissed after a November UGA football smack down by the St. Johns…#FTMF!!
I’m not convinced that Franklin will return to the SEC. Given his inability to beat top 10 teams, why would he go to the conference that has the most top-ranked teams year in and year out? I expect that he’ll be looking for a job in the Big 12 or ACC, some place where he’ll face no more than 2 top 10 teams in any given year.

From what I’ve been hearing from my NC State fan friends, the rapid segment of the fan base is already demanding that this happen.

VaTech is putting alot of money into its fb program. I could see Franklin going there.
That also allows him to continue recruiting a lot of areas where he already has relationships. Blacksburg isn’t all that far from State College.
From what I have seen/read, the majority of the pundits have been saying Va Tech is the better landing spot for him. His buyout reportedly states that he must be actively seeking a job so if/when UF comes open I would expect Franklin and his agents will be vocal about his candidacy with the Gators. Someone else said NC State which would be another good spot for him too. PSU has recruited the mid-Atlantic and Carolinas fairly well. I also could see him at Maryland if they make a change but he might want a new start away from the Big 10.
I see Franklin more likely at UCLA
His OC at Vandy was a past UCLA head coach so there may be some connections
I think all the Franklin speculation is overlooking a key fact: Butch Jones is tanned, rested, and ready.
Just looking at handbags message boards Franklin is only mildly more popular than an STD.
The fanbase favorite is of course Kiffin. Lots of claims of direct talks between Kiffin and their backup option is Marcus Freeman. They fully believe Gainesville is an upgrade for both coaches. They’ll get their choice is the consensus view.

Kiffin fits the gator ethos more than anyone else, but it’s going to take big $$$. The orange groves have been decimated by a little mite so that may be tough.
