So how did we Refugees rate the team at the midpoint of the season?

Quarterback – Solid B – 90.9% of you rated the QB room a B. I guess I could’ve asked for context, but given most of the banter here, I’d say most of us are happy with Stockton’s play (haven’t seen people ranting for Pug to start over him), but would like to see more in the passing game especially with extending the field. It’s hard to argue with the Rabun County Superman, though, as he’s definitely the leader of the offense and doesn’t hesitate to put the team on his back, when needed.

Running Backs – Solid B – 83.3% – Definitely nice to see depth in the RB room again. Between Frazier, Bowens, and McRae, all the makings for a Manball revival are there at RBU agian.

Offensive Line – C+ – A little over half of you rated the OL a C, and around 30% rated it a B, so I’ll go with C+. The unit has started to come to gel more in recent weeks, but considering we saw the sixth offensive line configuration in six games on the Plains, they are doing a workman-like job. Getting all together, for four quarters and sticking together (and staying healthy) can move this group into the B category sooner than later.

Receiving Room – B- – Majority vote here was a B, but I think similar to the QB rating, we’d like to see more of a downfield game and more touches by the tight ends and Noah Thomas. Stretching the field and seeing these five star TEs becoming receiving weapons would be a nice touch for the second half of the season.

Defensive Line – C – Do I need to elaborate on this one? The group does a good job stuffing the run and clogging the interior, but the lack of a major backfield disruptor is keeping the group bogged down from creating havoc like we saw in 2021 and 2022.

Linebackers – B – Solid group, tackling is way improved, but same as the defensive line, we’re not seeing enough backfield stops and sacks for this group to be in the a category. Though they did save our tails Saturday, no?

Secondary – C- – I’d argue that if the two above did their jobs a touch better, this group would look better, as well. Youth and some very visible miscues seems to make this unit the redheaded stepchild of the Georgia defense.

Special Teams – A – This is a no doubter. Quick question – aside from Saturday, when’s the last time you saw Woodring miss a field goal? Or when Thorson booted a poor punt? And our coverage units are definitely on the mother this year.
