If going by a mere recruiting and funding formula, yeah, they might look a little alike, except for the whole national champions thingy. This was also BCS era versus CFP era, but I digress. But, wait…

It remains to be seen, but Georgia rattled off back-to-back national championships after 2020, and Alabama did the same after 2010. Aside from a Big XII championship, it’s hard to see where the money and recruiting has translated to on-field success in Austin, especially considering that 2024 featured a light schedule for Texas outside of Georgia (need I remind anyone that they lost twice to the Bipolar Bulldawgs of 2024).
If they’re going to be the new Alabama, one has to wonder if Georgia ever was the new Alabama, or if Texas is attempting to be the new Georgia?

Richt was able to win SEC championships at least and had to earn a Natty during the BCS era. Not to mention he had to deal with Corch Gator and Saban Bama teams.

They couldn’t make it through us (twice) last year and still made the tournament. Richt’s 2007 team got the shaft and the 2002 team would have had a shot as well. They definitely have an easier path than Richt-led teams.

There were quite a few tebowners going off in sports media during the off season in 2007. They finished third in their division because sports media is always right on target. I find it best to avoid them at all costs.
