”He Said Something About Todd Grantham…”

In case you missed it from earlier this week, today’s game might mean just a little bit more for Gunner Stockton.

He had a heart attack there at the stadium,” Gunner Stockton told ESPN. “Every time we go to Florida, I really want to beat them bad in Jacksonville.”

Fifteen years ago, the Bulldogs trailed 21-7 at the half, but rallied and tied the score at 31 on Aaron Murray’s 15-yard touchdown to A.J. Green with about 4½ minutes to go in regulation.

Murray’s pass was intercepted in overtime, and the Gators won on a 37-yard field goal by Chas Henry to beat the Bulldogs for the 18th time in the previous 21 meetings.

Lawrence Stockton, who graduated from the UGA School of Pharmacy, was talking to a friend about the game when he died. He was 63.

“He said something about [then-Bulldogs defensive coordinator] Todd Grantham and collapsed,” said Suzanne Frederickson, Lawrence Stockton’s widow.

Let’s face it, 3rd and Grantham probably brought a lot of us to a near-heart attack.

Let’s hope 3rd and Schumann doesn’t make us feel the same today.

  1. Sounds like granddad was an OG DGD, and may he continue to RIP after we GATA today! And BTW, FTMF!

    • So was it Grantham that caused GandPa Larry to redline….or Pick Machine Murray (41 career ints)??

    • Gunner’s Grandfather was a pharmacist who developed the “Stockton Columnar Chart” that is used World wide for insulin dosing for diabetics.

      • Man, I thought you were joking. I looked it up, and damn if you weren’t right.

  2. That was a hateable game. Corch didn’t have much to work with and he pulled every trick play he could out of his execrable ass. Grantham flashing the choke sign to the Florida kicker.

  3. I really did not know how to react while reading this post. At first I laughed and said that piece of shit Grantham actually killed a guy. Then I was thinking the poor guy is dead. He’s obviously a damn good dog and 63 is way too young, so I felt bad about finding humor in it. I wonder if Gunner‘s grandma was being funny when she relayed her husband‘s last words? If so, if she can find humor in it, I guess it’s OK if I do.

    • You probably read in the Auburn gameday posts that th we man was arrested on the field post-game at the “between the hoses” Auburn win.
I am damn proud to be an alum of the same university that Damn Good Dawg graduated from.

  4. Gunner got his wish today, although not a big win but none the less a win. RIP granda Stockton DGD. Grandpas should live longer than 63 years. He is smiling from ear to ear in heaven tonight of that I have no doubt!
