You Can Take The Man Out of Georgia

But you can’t take the Georgia out of the man, I guess.

Honestly, it seemed like Nolan would be the last guy to have issues with the law, but speeding is speeding, and then there’s super speeding. Yeesh.

Is there a statute of limitations for Kirby when it comes to things like this? Is this Kirby losing control of everything, including the future?

It’s only 107 days until kickoff.

  1. ACCPD will sue Twiggs County for a cut of the fine. Cocksuckers!

  2. I just feel like if I was blessed with the ability & athleticism & drive of these guys, along with the amazing financial rewards, I would want to be around long enough to enjoy the life. At over 135 mph very little has to go wrong to put you or someone else in a morgue. Sheesh

  3. C’mon man, everyone knows Twiggs and Treutlen are out there the most (with Laurens a close third)…

    • 137 in a 70? That has nothing to do with a revenue raising speed trap. Sorry but that’s just reckless. A GHP officer is going to run your ass in for that as well.

      • I was just suggesting that most who regularly drive I-16 know to ease up a touch in Twiggs County….

        • I live in Twiggs. They are no worse than anywhere else. You can run 80 down I-16 with no problem. If you want to go faster than that, you’ll get pulled over in any county.

  4. I don’t care. Grew up in Savannah and drove I-16 end to end in less than 90 minutes on multiple occasions during my college days. There is not a damn thing in Twiggs County except for the sheriff’s department running radar on the interstate.

    • Wait a minute now…you drove from Savannah to Macon, approximately 170 miles, in 90 minutes?!? Wth were you driving?

  5. Can we start a college auto racing league? Georgia would have a dynasty unlike any other …..

    • Why ain’t we hit up the Mario Carts racing game for some NIL$?

  6. 137? That is stupid and selfish. Nolan can get bent on this one.

  7. Who hasn’t driven 137 MPH on a Georgia Interstate at least once?

    • Although I have pushed my vehicles to their upper limits on GA interstates many times, I have never owned a vehicle that could go anywhere near 137. I’m lucky if I get my ’92 F150 up to 75 mph on I95 so I can avoid being rear ended from everyone else going 85.

      • If’n you had a bad ass bitchin’ Camaro with t-tops, well, you might have….

I don’t know what it topped out at because it only read up to 125 (I think), but whatever its top speed was, I hit it.

I thank God I survived and the gsp wasn’t there to see it.

    • I have, on 285 right past Memorial Drive. I was young and bulletproof and had the baddest crotch rocket on 2 wheels. I was racing a guy in a 911 and DeKalb County could only chase one of us. It wasn’t me. My wife of 6 months put my motorcycle in the Auto Trader the next day. She prolly saved my life.

  8. Lamborghinis are made to go fast. A little disappointed my man didn’t top 175!!!

    • I-16, at times, can be the Autobahn (late night/early morning). I used to wind out my 1983 Mustang GT on 16. I think the speedometer showed it would run 130 — my thoughts, Ford wouldnt have 130 on the speedometer if it wasnt meant to run 130, amirite? GA State Patrol got me once on 16. Just a ticket.

      • Between the Bandit, Earnhardt, Hagar, Joe Walsh, and reckless car manufacturers what choice were we given, really?

        “My Maserati does 185…”

I was a mere victim of the society around me!!!

  9. I went 137 once, on the F1 race track here in town. Fun day. Otherwise, really dumb and dangerous.

    • Well, yeah, duh…

You don’t do it because it seems safe and smart.

You do it because its risky and you’re young and dumb and you think you’ll get away with it.

Other than about 6 tickets or so, I did. Haven’t wanted to drive like that since I was a teenager, but if they’d set me loose on Talladega, I’m totally down.

      • The open race track is a great place to get that feeling fed. We were all young and dumb, I just never considered going that fast where other cars could also be driving. Guessing Trigg County at 10:30 pm might be similar to a race track though.

      • Back in the day, my employees sent me to a one day Richard Petty driving school @ TMS (Texas Motor Speedway) — the fastest non restrictor plate track in NASCAR. After a morning of “lessons”, we got to drive the cars. Ten (10) laps. Did about 160 down the back stretch. 90 or so (lol) in the turns. Didnt seem that fast at the time. I am now NASCAR “professionally trained”…..as I tell my wife!

      • I also hear the Corvette driving school in Vegas (thereabouts) is kick ass. I’ve come close to purchasing a Corv (and going to their school) — but trouble would certainly follow.

        • A Corvette and an 8 ball of cocaine and you can be a poor man’s Leonardo DiCaprio for a weekend.
