Walking In, Hopefully Not Limping Out

Gotta keep our fingers crossed that the Neyland Stadium turf doesn’t become our biggest foe on Saturday, but the injury report heading in to game three doesn’t look too bad or unexpected:

I’m a little happier that Greene and Gaston are in better status than “out”, but I’d imagine Gaston gets put in only if we are in dire need, so I’ll be hoping we aren’t in need of his services come Saturday.

With all the injuries across the defensive front for Tennessee, we should be controlling the line comfortably. In theory.

  1. Those are their two starting cornerbacks. If the replacements can’t defend the WR screen well, Tennessee is in for a long day. Bobo!!!!! Go Dawgs!

  2. As the Senator might say, based on last week’s performance, “in theory” is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

  3. I woke up to a friend sharing Andrew Smart’s tweet (before his phone probably got taken away) that Gaston was “finna play.” Which according to the young agents in the office is good news.

My posts with tweets generally don’t go through or I’d offer proof of life.

  4. Banged up D-line and their two starting CBs is a good start.

Swaguilar is due for some INTs also. Bring the pressure Q and Mr. Cole!

Too bad the Dogs have never played with their food against a lower opponent leading up to playing the Vowels before.

    Dogs on top!

  5. Let’s consider other points. One team has significantly more blue chip talent than the other. That team also has the coaching staff that, despite message board criticism, won the Southeastern Conference Championship. The team with lesser talent didn’t even get to play for the SEC Championship.
One head coach is 0-4 against the other and has averaged 14.25 points per game in the match up. The other is 4-0 and has averaged 34.25 points per game in the match up.
The one team has averaged 39.5 points per game in Knoxville. The other averaged 13.5 points per game in Knoxville.
I will be the first to say that Tennessee has SEC quality players and can win. I just don’t see a reason for doom and gloom and “jury being out” and all that stuff.

  6. They always build up Hepels team against us. Then what happens, we whip that ass.

  7. Nice of the Vols to match our OL injuries with DL injuries of their own. Mad appreesh. 27-20 Dawgs.

  8. Among all the gnashing of teeth about Gaston a story has been lost. That story is Dontrell Glover is a freaking monster.
