To Billy Napier’s “Good People” – Allow Us to Retort

Billy’s Good Works team is somewhere down in Gainesville preparing for arguably the hardest SEC slate of games this season, but need I remind anyone here that Billy has determined that he’s got “good people”.

Well, sir, you ain’t the only one.

“I told Malaki I was going to start running, and he was like, ‘OK, what time are you going to run?’” Robinson recalled. “I say 5:30. So, I get in at 5:30 and Malaki is in the dang indoor waiting on me.”

The story doesn’t end there.

“He says ‘What time are you coming tomorrow, Coach?’ I said 5:30 again. Same thing,” Robinson said. “So, the next day my knee was bothering me a little bit, so I wasn’t going to run, but I wasn’t going to tell Malaki that. So, I get back home and I get a text about 10:30 or 11 and it’s Malaki going ‘What time we going, Coach?’”

Color Robinson impressed.

“He’s straining, but it’s the same thing he does on the field,” Robinson said. “He’s holding people accountable. I think that’s one of his greatest traits. Yes, he’s a good football player. Yes, he’s a great ball hawk, all that kind of stuff. But at the end of the day, Malachi holds people accountable, and he holds himself accountable. That’s why he’s a good player.”

Starks is also nominated to the AFCA Good Works Team:

I’ll take a DGD over a good handbag any day. Stick to NIL deals, Billy. Or maybe don’t.

  1. Yep. Good story. I watched the interview with Robinson. Seems like a good guy. Seems like the type that if he had to yell at you you’d feel bad about it.

  2. Y’all think sunbelt Billy will be on the sideline in Jacksonville?

  3. Malaki is one of my favorite players to watch, and I’m not surprised to hear what a good guy he is. Hard to remember another Dawg making a better debut as a freshman than Malaki against Oregon. I’d have to go back to Herschel at Tennessee to find better.

  4. Maybe Starks is the guy that can lead our NASCAR group to tone it down!
