It’s the offseason, so of course we have this fodder to wrap our heads around. What do you make of this?

A Quick Look at this and you might notice what I did – we beat three of these guys last year. Lagway? He completed two passes, one of which was a touchdown on what I’d call busted coverage, but I personally thought that Ole Miss’s backup was more impressive to me than Manning or Lagway.
Then there’s Beck. Discuss.
No Nico? No bama qb? Pawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwl! This ain’t right.
Bamas incoming frosh Keon Russell from powerhouse Duncanville,TX is a baller!!! If DeBoer doest start him, he’s a DAMN FOOL!
Manning maybe the guy, but we haven’t seen it yet. Beck should be #1 based on prior play. Not sure if that’s a reflection of the injury or ignorance.
The top 2 are definitely dangerous players. Florida was a different team late in the season.
The UF game is going to be the litmus test of the season IMHO.
Time to get that chip back on the shoulder and put those bitches down….hard.
Yeah, I agree, Derek. As much as I like ragging on the Gators, I do think Lagway will make a difference with them. Not sure they have all the parts around him, but he will make them better. We need to go to Jax with a mission to put a beating on them.
I also concur. I also wonder what is going on with Lagway’s injury situation.
My biggest take away from this list is…where is all the QB talent in college football? I can’t remember a time where this little QB talent was returning.
It’s Andy Staples so there is that, appears the list is prepared based on potential and not actual performance. So mile will always vary. Klubnik should eat up the ACC and post impressive stats. Nussmieier stats better than Manning projected potential. Sellers and Lagway have the same game, passing accuracy will be their undoing. Not sure what Beck has for an O-Line but if not great, he could have a down year, but again ACC defense so that may be a wash with the O line issue.
Definitely a change for the SEC to not have experience at the QB position for most of the teams.
We don’t make the list because of the small amount of playing time Gunner had. No pressure on us this year, lower expectations, I like it.
Did you see ANYTHING from Gunner to where he would belong on any such list such as this? I hope that he’s not just given the starting QB job because everyone likes him. I’m rooting for whoever is best to start.
I’m amazed at how the QBs that run a lot are ranked way higher than the QBs that stay in the pocket. Justin Fields and AR15 are 2 examples.
Lagway’s a big dude, so if he has it between the ears, he could be dangerous. Time will tell.
Agree. There’s an awful lot of hype about Lagway for very little in terms of production. It’s one of the things that has always bugged me about college football that doesn’t seem to be changing in an era where everything else is changing. “We’ve decided this guy is awesome. And that’s all you need to know.”
At least with Manning it’s the name. I don’t think he sucks but he’s mostly been hype himself. As for the Ole Miss backup, when that kid got on the field in our game I had a bad feeling immediately. I hated being right. But apparently there was some sort of miracle drug in their locker room that made people return stronger than ever after leaving the game crippled. Of our losses last year that one bothered me the most.
And it doesn’t seem possible that Nussemeir is still in college. We had to hear all the time, “What is Stetson, like thirty five years old?” Nussemeir played when Darnell Washington was still at Georgia and that seems like a long time ago.
At this point none of these QBS seem locks to be transcendent. In that absence it falls back to the team and situational play. I like our team.
So who gets the preseason Heisman?
Auburn’s QB…whoever he is.
