In the final media presser prior to G Day, the players spoke, and here’s a summary of what they said:
Ryan Puglisi: shorter, compete every day, I feel like I can start, and I learned a lot from Gunner and Carson, particularly Carson’s accuracy and crunch time mentality.
Sacovie White: everyone is learning every receiver position, the secondary is good (mentions Ellis Robinson) and the receivers are putting in extra work after practices on catching the ball.
Noah Thomas: Practice intensity in higher than at A&M, Kirby yells a lot, and he came because of Coley’s genius as a receivers coach.
Ellis Robinson: the receiving corps is huge, Demello Jones continues to impress, Georgia’s emphasis on tackling makes it second nature (fingers crossed) and some no comments.
Jacorey Thomas: You get better at Georgia, so why transfer when you can stick it out and raise your draft potential, Zion Branch is a big physical safety.
Daniel Harris: more talk on how good and big the receivers are, they make people miss in space and are again big bodied.
London Humphreys: the physicality required of Georgia’s receivers was a growth point for him, the freshman receivers are learning a lot, Puglisi knows the playbook and can teach it.
Quintavius Johnson: focused on outside linebacker only, freshmen showing promise.
Gabe Harris: freshmen are good, having to work through the adjustments, Isaiah Gibson is good.
Cash Jones: Nate Frazier is going to be special, BonWalker is adjusting, and never ever do the Horns Down again.
I’m assuming the no comments from Robinson were questions about tampering.
One was about his injuries from previous year, the other was about his “welcome to Athens” moment as a freshman.
“Working after practice on catching….genius of Coley”. Not sure I’m squaring those two points of view but will eagerly await positive results. Happy to hear about the size of the receiving corps.
I was going to say the exact same thing… great minds and all.
I’ve heard that the back up QB is a real gym rat, the team is setting weight room records each day, and this is the most “buy in” we’ve seen from any team.
😉
Considering the 2024 UGA football journey plus the results, CKS is either, “Buy In” or check out…GO DAWGS!!
