They live among us – Vol MBG edition

Not sure I need to say anything else.

“It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear a fool than to open your mouth (or your message board comments) and remove all doubt.”

About eethomaswfnc

I've been a Dawg my entire life. UGA was always my dream school where I received 2 Terry College degrees and met my DGD wife. I've been a season ticket holder for over 30 years and love the in-stadium experience over anything from Section HD. My first game in Sanford Stadium was the 1981 Auburn game where we clinched the SEC championship. The best game I've attended in person was the Midnight Miss against Ohio State (nite, nite!). The best home games I've attended were the 1984 Clemson game (the Butler did it) and the 2013 LSU game (that 4th down is still the loudest single moment I've experienced between the hedges). The game I love to win is against the Handbags (FTMF), and the game I hate to lose is the NATS (Tuck Fech).

  1. Okay, I’m gonna show my dumbness here. Then why did Tech get a second field goal attempt and win the game back in 99? I think that was the Jasper Sanks non fumble game.

      • Think you are correct. Only situation you get another attempt now is if you muff the snap and get tackled, but still have time left on the clock to kick again on 4th down. Not sure what happens if the kick is blocked, but the kicking team recovers it behind the line of scrimmage.

        • If the blocked kick is recovered by the kicking team, I believe they have to advance the ball beyond the first down marker to maintain possession regardless of down.

          • If the kick does not pass the line of scrimmage the kicking team can run pass or kick again on that play. Also if the kicking team recovers on a 3rd down attempt the kicking team gets another play (4th down). If the ball passes the line of scrimmage on any kick possession is transferred to the defense.

          • Thanks for the clarification on that. I really thought they had changed the rule because the defensive team really should get an advantage for blocking the kick prior to 4th down.

    • Was apoplectic they got another shot at the time, have not mellowed in the quarter century since….

      • PS Thanks for getting rid of the playpen, it added nothing to this site, just as it added little to the old one….

  2. Say what you will about Vol fans, but the majority were raided in football just like us Dawg fans and know better than this. This comment seems more like something you’d see on the Nerd message boards. After all, half their fans didn’t even know what football was until they stepped foot on campus.

  3. C’mon, now, not everybody can be an expert on the rules. Now this individual knows and the sting of defeat will make the lesson stick without the pain and effort of a Code Red…

  4. On a unrelated but potentially related note. Which SEC fanbase do you think contains the largest percentage of “Flat Earthers”?

  5. This is one of those rare time I wish I had a tweeter account just to read the replies

    • I’m there so you don’t have to be … here are a couple of responses (bad grammar and spelling included):
“This guys is probably on the CFP Playoff Selection Committee”
“Same thought process as ‘well my cousin is a girl so what’s the problem”
“These are AP voters, I can tell”
“They started watching football Saturday while the game was on. That’s the only way it makes sense”
“He was a bottle of Jack Daniels deep on that emotional roller coaster we have to give him a pass”
“that was the kicker’s burner account”

The best … from a Vol fan:
      “I apologize for Vol-Facebook”
