The End of an Error

This happened somewhat quietly, but I know some of you will be happy to know that the era of “Bulldog Bold” fonts used with athletics has come to an end. Meet the new font for 2026:

This will be replacing the former typography, which if you don’t know what I’m referencing, it was this font:

Not much else seems to have changed, though you may be curious if the “new dawg” is still in the branding manual…and it is still there.

Progress is progress. I’d be interested to know what brought about the change.

  1. I prefer the bulldog bold. It’s unique enough to differentiate. The change looks like 1/2 the programs in America.

      • That Microsoft Clip Art “bulldog” is an embarrassment. We had (still have?) a great Dawg logo and some of the variations through the years have been great also. This generic thing ain’t it.

The font never bugged me that much, but the mascot is turrble.

  2. I like the block fonts. Guess because it looks like what l started seeing way back. Old folks don’t like change, but to go back in times remembered ain’t so bad. Never will like “new dog” Thanks for update. Oh, will probably push sales of all Dawg gear!

  3. The BullDog Bold is easier on these ancient eyes. Sharper with less blur. No matter the font there here at GTP Refugees I will be a daily consumer of the written word. Go Dawgs.

  4. Baby steps I guess. I prefer the font they changed to here and will always hate that Nike bulldog.

Georgia could have great baseball uniforms. So much potential, but Nike is terrible. Maybe the new font will help next season. The Diamond Dogs need at least one look that is a classic old school looking baseball uniform.

  5. I always liked the Dawg leaning on the block G. When I was in school, the Ag Engineering club had a decal (the old type with water) that was the Dawg leaning on a tractor holding a t-square. I’d love to recreate that or find an old one. IIRC, there were several variations of the Dawg leaning on different things representing different schools/majors.

Guess we can’t do that now and upset the suits at Nike.

  6. Good font. Still need to run that marketing focus-grouped, clip-art Dawg out of the building.
