Countdown to Georgia Bulldogs Football, 72 Days

Good morning!

72 days remain before our UGA football itch, gets scratched…

Here is card #72:

As I sit here preparing these countdown posts, I am listening to the blu-ray release of The Allman Brothers Band’s “The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings”. It is over 6 hours of the Brothers at Fillmore East in 1971. Five complete shows in 5.1 surround sound. If you have a nice home theater setup and you are a fan of ABB, run, don’t walk to your nearest retailer, right now! It really is great.

Here’s a track off of my Pontoon Playlist to start your morning:

Go Dawgs!

    • Always felt Dickey was under appreciated, especially in his prime, when discussing top lead guitarist. Still have his solo album “Highway Call” (and On CD) released as Richard Betts and often listen to it. Excellent instrumentals from him and the Nashville studio artists who performed on it.

  1. Rakestraw’s performance against Miami is highlighted in a blurb for a record that stood for quite a long time. What are your best single-game performances for a Georgia QB (may not be the best stat line)?

    1) Stetson Bennett – Peach Bowl 2022
    2) Aaron Murray – LSU 2013
    3) Eric Zeier – Florida 1993
    4) Mike Bobo – Georgia Tech 1997
    5) David Greene – LSU 2004

    Honorable mentions:
    Gunner Stockton – Tennessee 2026
    Stetson Bennett – TCU 2022
    D.J. Shockley – Boise State 2005
    Ray Goff – Florida 1976

      • The man had some of the highest highs, and some of the lowest lows. I saw him as a freshman against LSU and thought our future was really bright.

          • The 1997 Florida win followed by the Auburn faceplant … that was Jim Donnan’s career at Georgia in a nutshell.

Carter was a completely different player in 2000 than he had been the prior 2 seasons.

  2. Thanks for the heads up! I wish there was an affiliate link. I always worry when that long version of Whipping Post will pop up on my Workout Playlist shuffle because it means an extra couple miles and a half added to the workout! Better, though, it ends up being the length of a 5K when I’m “in” “shape.”
