Double Speak, with a Texas Two-Step

If there was ever a better example of the current hypocrisy of the sport, from ESPN’s splattering of gambling data and ads all over its website while similarly reporting on the Sorsby case left and right, I don’t know what is.

  1. Its only hypocrisy if you’re putting it under a morality lens. That’s the wrong lens. The correct lens in sports, as usual, is money.

Gambling drives interest in sports. You can’t rely on that interest if the gamblers lose faith in the integrity of the game.

So you drive gamblers to watch the game and at the same time drive gamblers off the field. It makes perfect sense and there is no hypocrisy there. It lines up perfectly.

  2. So Boone Pickens does not have enough money to carry Okie State anymore or does he have interest in the casino?
