And just like that…Kirby is now the elder among SEC coaches make that the eldest.
Among all SEC coaches, only three can claim appearances in the SECCG…Sark, DeBoer, and Kirby. Difference is, Kirby’s been there eight times.
Life comes at you fast…and, to think, the hottest commodity in college football right now is Lane “Never Won a Thing” Kiffin? Hmph.
Lane Nwat Kiffin rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it?
When this guy went off on whut zero meant, you had a feeling he had already put the house on the market and cleaned out the office…GO DAWGS!!
The guy Arkansas hired was talking shit about UGA this past summer. I don’t remember the quote exactly, but it was something like keeping his kids from driving stupid like UGA does. FTMF!
Life comes at you fast. Kirby won’t forget that remark this fall.
“Dawgrading” maybe in his near future…GO DAWGS!!
Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield took a shot at Georgia football during his radio show on Sept. 15.
Silverfield was talking about how he shows his team examples that are not the Memphis “standard” after every game week.
“And the ‘not our standard’ is, ‘Georgia wide receiver arrested for driving 900 miles per hour over the speed limit,'” Silverfield said. “That’s a weekly occurrence. So, that’s one of those things we’ll show.”
Silverfield was alluding to the legal troubles Georgia football players have had, particularly with traffic-related issues.
“Then we get into our standard,” Silverfield said. “Maybe we’ll show one of our guys at Le Bonheur Hospital doing community service this week. Maybe some of our guys showing extra effort. And I think that’s the whole point: ‘Hey, this is what we don’t accept here. This is not our standard, and then this is our standard.’

I live right by the University of Memphis and often walk my dogs by the athletic offices. His parking space must be on South Campus, because if it was on the main campus, I’d have left him a little gift or two.
I love Kirby. Alabama is to Kirby what Miami was to Bobby Bowden. I hope Kirby is coaching in Athens another 25 years.
I will not be here for that. My heart Dr. told me longevity was not in my physical makeup but for the rest of my DAWG brethren I too hope Kirby will be here for another few decades. Today and forever Go DAWGS!
Hope this isn’t you Crafty.
Not to be Cap’n Obvious, but…terrible timing. As far as the buyout $$$ goes, it’s $38 mil. Yeah, it isn’t due w/in 60 days of termination b/c Stoops isn’t a total dick, but…$38 mil. Jiminy Cricket.
I wonder who would want the Kentucky job. If you were a up and coming young coach is this the job you want? Stoops at least had a winning record. Who can you get that can be better in the SEC? Mizzou knew what they had and re-signed Drinkwitz so they could remain relevant.
Is Mizzou REALLY relevant?
They were winning ’til Pribula went down and he was their second choice at QB, so relatively relevant?
You make a good point, but they do win a game every now and then that they aren’t supposed to win. And they sometimes play teams tough. Besides, for Mizzou and Kentucky relevant means less than it does to you and me.
Look no further than the shores of Lake Oconee! Kentucky’s low expectations are a perfect fit for MuLLLen’s half ass efforts!
Drink got an extension because his name was being mentioned in the media as being a candidate for several bigger name school openings like Penn State and Florida. Which I admittedly thought odd at the time because his team’s seasons are pretty hollow when you really dig down into their success. For example, finishing 8-4 in 2025 without a win against a P4 team that finished ranked or even above .500. Kansas (5-7), South Carolina (4-8), Auburn (5-7), Mississippi State (5-7) and Arkansas (2-10). Granted, they were a few plays away from beating Bama at home and Vandy on the road. But on the flip side they were a few Freeze head-scratchers from losing to Auburn in double overtime. It is like that seemingly every year. Beat the cupcakes and sub .500 teams. Even in what many in the media celebrated in the 2024 9-3 season, most of their wins were against sub .500 teams other than Boston College (6-6) and Vandy (6-6).
Well, the basketball school wants to change coaches in this 2025 merry go round. Who the heck are they going after? They are a day late and $38 million too short
I think both parties just got tired of each other. Stoops openly complained he didn’t have the NIL support required to win big. UK clearly values basketball over football. Stoops almost leaving for the A&M job lite the fuse to blow it all up and restart.
