Tennessee You Next Week

Screen passes and vanilla offense can’t be on the menu next week…can it?

Stat lines look better than the scoreboard. Gotta protect the ball. We might just be a defense heavy team, but I gotta wonder why we got those receivers to Athens out of the portal and the recruiting trail.

Shit gets real next weekend.

Go Dawgs.

  1. If we can’t even reasonably protect the QB then we can’t throw downfield. I just hope Greene and Gaston play and are difference makers because what I’m seeing on the O line is a shit show.

  2. I’m reserving judgment until next week. You don’t open the playbook up against Marshall and Austin-Peay. It should be wide open next week, if the same issues are there… we may have a problem.

  3. Fact is, our offline is average at best.
Fact is, Stockton is unable to see the field & hus passing capability is average.
We will go as far as our defense takes us

  4. The offensive line actually played better this week that last. Gunnar — I wouldn’t be surprised if he got the hook somewhere during the season. I like the kid’s toughness but his slow throwing motion, his staring down receivers and his unwillingness to rip the throws down field are what are going to make it very difficult for us to be consistent on offense.

    • Can’t recall the play, but there was a time where he rolled out and had space to make a decent throw and it looked horrendous. Puglisi looks like he has an upside, but Kirby is stubborn with his QBs sometimes to a fault. Lose in Kneeland next week and Pug is getting a start.

      • Right now, Puglisi does look a little better. I want Gunner to have a fair shot, but I also want to win, and yeah, I know we actually won, but…. Well, even the running game seemed like it was better with Pugs today.

      • I remember at least two plays like that. Maybe he starts to rip the slow developing downfield plays next week and maybe he was told work on his check down game… but that maybe thing is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

  5. We’re going 0-2 in the next two. At least if Pug throws a pic it might be 50 yards down field. Who knew the hillbillies would be all ‘addition by subtraction’? I hope Kirby will change the starter before it’s too late bc in today’s CFB u can lose 2 games. We don’t have even close to enough offense to be in the next 2 games. Please prove me wrong. Damn it sux to be the team that Kalen DeBoer can hang his hat on.

    • Well, while I appreciate your ability to be pessimistic, we haven’t lost them yet. I’m not happy at all with the offense, but we’re stuck with it for this season. No way Kirby makes any changes. Hoping for the best. Defense looks pretty stout even without much help.

    • Because nobody thinks he’s awesome. It’s just that not all of us think he’s horrible. Why do you boys think you want to win more than Kirby does?

  6. It all starts with Kirby. His stubbornness to go out and get a QB in the portal is going to break his back. His loyalty is also going to bite him in the ass. As many years as this man has coached, he’s got to know Stockton is nothing more than a good athlete with average/below passing accuracy. At Georgia, AVERAGE WON”T DO!!
