Stroke It: “Nothing Says ‘Top Remaining Seed’ Like an 11 am Start”

Shot:

Chaser:

You tell ’em, Josh. As a consequence, we need to ignore the NCAA rule on site neutrality and play The Stroke between every batter on Friday (we ignored this rule when they tossed Phelps, too, on Sunday).

In case it gets your fired up, here’s the whole Billy Squier version:

Sometimes, you just have to say “eff you” and take the consequences if they come.

Now, do us one better, Mr. Brooks, and get someone to listen about favorable calls for programs that rhyme with “Alabama” during the football season, as well.

  1. Such a crock! We had a Bulldog group gather for smash burgers and the game last weekend when it was a night game. These start times totally suck. It is little consolation, but at least it will feel like 10am for the Bizarro Dawgs.

  2. It looks like J Reid Parker Director of Athletics Jess Brooks got loose with his Sting Talk postings. Reckon it’s too much to expect a team to be ready any place, any time if they have a “magic little number” in front of them. Best seed remaining? Georgia has won ZERO Super Regional games this year – ZERO!!!, our players cain’t wave to their families without getting suspended. 11 am, 11 pm? There’s been damn near a week’s notification. The players are compensated, fed, have facilities, rehab schedules and are told when and where. They’ve been playing 7 am Travel Ball games for a decade. This all gets fixed by playing to The Standard, whippin’ MSU’s arse and then one more.

    • Whoa man. You’re getting pretty fired up about some rec league stuff. Deep breath. Focus. Tennessee State and a 17-0 run in front of us. That’s the goal. GATA.

    • Allow me to make a single point concerning Phelps’ ejection…he was a total hotdog while rounding the bases and he deserved the ejection. You celebrate inside the dugout after big scores or homeruns, not on the basepaths!

      • Say you haven’t watched much college baseball in the past 5 years without saying you haven’t watched much college baseball in the past 5 years.

  3. The teams are not “reseeded” prior to the CWS – they are placed in the groups according to WHEN they secure their spot/win their Super Regional Championship. So, the earlier the time the better for playing teams in a bracket with teams that took extra games/time to win their super regional. In theory – “weaker opponents”. Earlier times game times are better.

    • Where did you get this from? The seeding for Omaha is already predetermined. For example, if UGA and GT were to have advanced to Omaha, they would have been on the same side of the bracket as the top two seeds on that side (#2 & #3 National seeds). Same with UCLA and Auburn as the 31 and #4 National seeds.

Cal Poly vs. WVU winner will face the Troy vs L. Rock winner in Omaha and be on the same half of the bracket as the winners on the Chapel Hill and Auburn Super Regionals.

The Athens and Austin Super Regional winners will face off and the winners of the Lawrence and Tuscaloosa Super Regionals will meet on the other half of the bracket.
