The Dawgs have picked up the #1 running back in the 2027 recruiting class. Georgia also has a commitment from the #1 QB in the Class of 2028 in Jayden Wade.
He’s officially the highest rated RB to commit to Georgia, ever. Spell is a big kid, to say the least, and he’s also fast.
So the question is this…what’s the over/under on the number of months he’ll remain a Georgia commit before someone else offers him more for his services?
If we can actually land him come winter 2026, I’ll consider that impressive. Otherwise, consider me a little bit burned as of late in getting too hyped up about a big recruiting pickup when we’ve seen this show before.
Fingers crossed.
What does a commitment signify anyway? What does it actually accomplish? Other than signaling other schools to increase their offers?
You mean land him come winter of 27?
Means nothing until the ink is dry. And then you get him for a year. Ugh!!
Even that doesn’t mean anything. Look at that transfer player that Clemson got from Cal or Stanford or wherever. He actually enrolled and attended classes, and then when Golding offered him more money, he left for Ole Miss.
And at the rate the NCAA is going with these lawsuits, I won’t be surprised if we eventually see a player leave a school mid-season and suit up for their new team the next week.
That only means here come the usual suspects: Texas, Texas Tech, Miami and Ole Miss. I remain amazed at how Ole Miss can compete with the other big spenders.
Ole Miss isn’t really for high schoolers.
It seems like we get the verbal to set the price in the market.
I will get excited about this when he gets his first carry in a game.
This won’t be over until Herbstreit has Sandusky on as a special Gameday guest to encourage the kid to stay home.
Major league level snark there. Well played.
Believe it when l see it. We find’em, they buy’em!! Or actually maybe just have a short term lease. Contract? Be damned!! Go Dawgs!!
Other$ let UGA football do all the heavy lifting, “ABC”, then come on with the offer$…GO DAWGS!!
I’ve watched a lot of hs running back highlight reels and they do all tend to look pretty impressive given the competition levels.
However, I’m not sure I’ve seen a power back with that sort of acceleration in the open field since the 1980’s. Damn… When he clears and drops it down into 4th… whoa….
This kid looks special.
Months?? Bet he has minimum of 20 texts per day. From Kiffen.
I’m surprised that we can’t just go ahead and sign him NOW. Why not? Don’t we just do what we want to now and sue the NCAA if we don’t get our way?
I remember when I actually used to get excited when big time players committed to Georgia. Now it barely moves my needle. Greed kills.
Today, commitment means that we are on the first hole of day one of The Masters and we just birdied the hole so we are IN THE LEAD. (granted we are in the first foursome of the day).
Question for the Legal Eagles out there. Since the NIL deals are theoretically separate from the school (wink, wink), what is there to stop a collective from signing a deal with a HS senior right now with some more binding language that he has to attend said school or return ALL the money? He has not “signed” with the school until the official signing day but is bound by the collective.
In Michigan it is already legal for HS players to sign NIL deals.
I will be amazed if he ends up signing with us. Kirby has yet to overpay for a recruit, and in many cases a member of the team. That is what this will come to.
