Ladies and gentlemen, the undisputed COGAT (criticized offensive guru of all time) speaks on his strategy with short runs (on like, 2nd and 23 to go) and screen passes.

It’s a set up! Some of y’all came to that conclusion already, although many of us have different interpretations of what a “set up” means.

Kirby achieved his fall goals of establishing the run and stopping the run. Our defense averaged a shade under 3 yards per carry while our ground game production was better than in 2024. So what’s the goal for next year?

  1. Running 2 in the B gap in the 4th is way more effective than running 2 on any play outside the B gaps as we saw a week ago. When 1 is not on the team I suspect the screens will not be as effective as this season. Wonder how many “set ups” we will see vs deep shots?

  4. Here’s a question for all. Would your rather have Kirby Smart WITH Mike Bobo as OC or have both of them leave?

    Wonder how well it will work out for the Ravens…….

    • I dont hate Bobo enough for Kirby to leave. I imagine, one day the stars will align again so we can win with an NFL defense to carry Bobo. Lot of luck there, but we have a shot with Kirby doing the roster management. Wont happen often though.

        • Logical: Someone won a trophy one time so every decision they make is perfect.

          • How many times do I have to repeat that I have said repeatedly that Kirby did the single dumbest things I have ever seen in football before you stop running with this additional inanity?

            I can have an opinion that has some value that a fake punt on 4th and distance at midfield with 3 to play in a tie game is stupid as fuck.

            I can have NO opinion of any value related to staffing decisions. None. I am in same boat as everyone else on that.

            To be clear, I am not saying Kirby should or shouldn’t make a move on Bobo. I’m saying:

            1) I don’t know

            And

            2) I can’t question a guy with the track record and results of Kirby Smart on a question like that.

            Doesn’t mean I think he’s perfect. Means he in a superior position to me on some questions.

            If your cardiologist said you needed heart surgery would you ask the guy in 37f what he thinks?

            Of course you would and thats the fucking problem. And no your cardiologist is not Jesus. He just knows this shit better than randos with keyboards.

  6. My real complaint is why does EVERY video these days have those goofy-ass subtitles on them? I believe we’re all from the south here. I have no trouble understanding Bobo’s speaking.

    • Speaking for myself, as someone who is legally hearing impaired and sometimes ignores the NSFW warning? Subtitles are a Godsend.

      • I can appreciate that, GC, but regular videos have a button for closed captioning. At some point in recent history, kids started putting AI (meaning crappy) subtitles across the screen anyway.

        And yes, my wife and I will still occasionally turn on closed captioning when watching TV, but I like to have the option of turning it off.

        • Yelling at clouds Russ. Every bit of technology “improvements” are made by 23 year old snot nosed no-it-alls in Silicon Valley trying to think for us po’ folk. Gotdamit…I WANT to push a button!!!

    • Probably for the same reason anyone does anything on the internet any more. Because the algorithms favor it and therefore people do whatever they can to monetize as many eyeballs as they can.

  7. OCs who have 90%+ efficiency ratios are a dime a dozen on Madden (especially when my hands are gripping the controller)!!! Can’t understand why we can’t we find one IRL….

    • Maybe someday AI will birth and then replicate 22 identical football players for each team and then the game will be played the way these folks think it is now.

      • He’s not immune to criticism; its the neverending repetition of the inane criticism that’s the issue…..
        I mean, we had someone bring up the 2014 SCar game again yesterday, like the sparrows returning to Capistrano! We played very well offensively (no one ever recalls it was Pruitt’s first SEC game as a DC and Spurrier schooled him hard), and poor execution by Hutson Mason gave the refs a chance to make a questionable call – as the original Gump said, “it happens, sh*t!” And it was a sh*tty ride home that day (although not as bad as 2012), but all anyone can focus on over a decade later is the playcall!

        • Don’t forget the missed field goal that would have tied it at 38 apiece.

          • Thanks for the reminder. Obviously Mike “learned” from that experience that you should go for the win, instead of settling for the tie – its not like he or Kirby have done that recently and been second guessed endlessly about it or anything….
